Still Ahead - Great Effort

For almost the entire racing season, Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker, five time champion New Zealand trainer, has been the trail-blazer of the Singapore Trainers' Premiership.

Out of the starting gates like a bullet on the very first day of the new season - 1 January - Mark has never looked back and has been dominant for the full five and a bit months since.

Make no mistake, this is no easy task - and plenty of other trainers are looking to usurp his position in this highly competitive environment.

"We could not be more proud of what Mark and Julia, Gus and Karen and the whole team are achieving in Singapore," says David Ellis.

"It's a really high class racing constituency - yes the stakes are phenomenal and so is the competition - but they say cream rises to the top and Mark certainly is doing that."

The latest in Mark's constant flow of winners came on Sunday with Sacred Spin - yes if you think that name sounds familiar, when thinking of the likes of stunning racehorse Sacred Star - then you would be right! This 4YO is part of the Raffles' racing team and we are proud to train him in Singapore for them.

The son of Hard Spun out of the American mare Destina has now raced 11 times in Singapore, winning twice and placing on five other occasions. His win added further prize money to Te Akau Singapore's outstanding effort in just five months to win in excess of $2 million in stakes for our very happy owners.

Mark leads the Trainers' Premiership by six wins over Michael Freedman - with still another busy seven months to come - here are the latest standings, courtesy of the Singapore Turf Club:
