"Straight to Singapore" Syndicate

19 November, 2013

Te Akau has created the "Straight to Singapore" Syndicate due to the overwhelming demand and interest from many of our owners to be involved in cost effective Ready to Run horses that they know will definitely head straight to Singapore to race.

David Ellis has today purchased the first of these "Straight to Singapore" horses with one, or possibly two, more horses to be confirmed from today and tomorrow's Ready to Run Sale at Karaka.

Let us tell you about our first colt - he is Lot 5 - a Guillotine colt out of the Volksraad mare Flood and he breezed up in a very smart time of 10.75 at Te Rapa.

"A big, strong and athletic colt," says David, "he will be ideal for Singapore racing and that is precisely why I selected him. He was terrific buying at $60,000."

"Mark Walker also inspected this colt's breeze up credentials and he is very excited about having this horse to train.   Remember too that from April 2014, stakes are on the increase in Singapore and the horses in this "Straight to Singapore" Syndicate will be eligible to debut in a $75,000 maiden race at Kranji!

"Every time your horse starts in Singapore owners also receive a $900 starters' incentive per horse which is credited to your account- it is a very good country to race a horse as Te Akau owners have discovered."

This colt, as we say, is by the smart young sire son of Montjeu, Guillotine who himself had four career wins, one as a 2YO.  Guillotine's main victories came in the Group 2 MVRC Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes and he was also 3rd in the Group 1 Yalumba Stakes.

Guillotine importantly is a half brother to Group 1 VRC Derby and Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient. He is an exciting young sire whose oldest progeny are 3YOs and they are making a real impact.

Out of the Volksraad mare Flood, she is the dam of three horses to race all of whom have won or been placed thus far in their careers.  His grandmother is Bank Burst who had three wins as a 2YO and was twice a stakes' winner.  She is a half sister to Inundate who won nine times including the Listed WATC Premier's Cup.

On this colt's pedigree page you will find Group 1 Toorak Hcp winner Allez Wonder, Group 2 Perth Cup winner LunaTudor and Group 2 VRC Edward Manifold Stakes winner Rainburst.

A 20% share in this "Straight to Singapore" colt will cost $12,000 - a 10% share just $6,000.  The cost of sending each horse, insured, to Singapore is approximately $15,000 so you need to factor in around $1500 towards that per 10% share.

So let's head "Straight to Singapore" - very few New Zealand owners have this luxury of choice - contact Karyn now as we know this "Straight to Singapore" Syndicate will have a tonne of appeal and will soon be fully sold - [email protected]!
