"Straight to Singapore" Syndicate

20 November, 2013

David Ellis has now confirmed the two horses that he has purchased at the Karaka Ready to Run Sale specifically for Te Akau's "Straight to Singapore" Syndicate.

These two horses will travel to join Te Akau Racing Singapore and be trained by Mark Walker (pictured), Te Akau's five time Champion NZ trainer.

As we announced yesterday, the first colt is Lot 5 - he is a beautiful, strong Guillotine colt out of a winning Volksraad mare and his is a family full of Group and Listed performers.

Guillotine is an exciting young sire whose oldest progeny are 3YOs and they are being snapped up at this sale after showing plenty of promise at the trials and at this early stage on the track too.  His purchase price of $60,000 certainly makes him a great buy.

The second horse in our "Straight to Singapore" Syndicate (and we expect to have his picture through soon) is Lot 191 - a Shinko King gelding out of a stakes' performed Rory's Jester mare.

Consider this - this gelding was a bargain at only $40,000 - he is out of that Rory's Jester stakes' placed mare, who is out of a Marscay mare, who is out of a Showdown mare - three great broodmare sires!

He is by Shinko King out of Red Carrera and David Ellis today described him as : "a really well balanced type, with good bone, good strong forearm and terrific hindquarters - he really looks a racehorse."

These two colts comprise our "Straight to Singapore" Syndicate and a 20% share in them both will cost you $20,000 or a 10% share in both just $10,000 - there is no GST payable as these horses will be exported to Singapore shortly, possibly after trialling here in New Zealand in preparation.  Their racing careers however will definitely take place under the guidance of Te Akau Singapore.

Outside of normal costs such as vet checks and insurance, there will be a cost in due course of approximately $1500 per horse for transport to Singapore - once there the training fees are on a par with New Zealand as there are no travelling/float requirements and of course, the Singapore Turf Club heavily subsidises all veterinary costs - it is a fabulous place to race horses.

Remember when these two horses have their first starts for you, with the new stakes coming into play, they will be racing in $75,000 maiden fields and, as long as they do not win nor finish last, every time they race, their owners receive a $900 starter incentive that is credited to your account.

Already today we have sold 40% of Te Akau's "Straight to Singapore" Syndicate which was created in response to the overwhelming interest people have expressed to us in racing horses there.

So do not hesitate - contact Karyn now on 07 825 4701 or email her - [email protected] to confirm your share or ask us any questions you might have.

What fun this will be, these two boys!
