Stunning Strike Rate

Te Akau New Zealand trainer Jason Bridgman is proving a formidable force already this season.

Today's quinella in the Listed Soliloquy Stakes for 3YO fillies underlined this fact with Spellbinder treating her opponents with absolute disdain. Winning by over six lengths easing down, it was also terrific to see Ruthless Lady run in to second place and also collect valuable black type.  Both of these fillies were purchased by David from the Karaka Sale.

This latest success has been described by one Australian commentator as "the Te Akau freight train is unstoppable" - we think it is probably more of an express - or maybe a Japanese bullet - train!

The bottom line is that nothing thrills us more than David buying a horse and Jason or Mark training that horse to win for our owners - nothing beats that and it is indeed what we exist for!

Take a look at the latest New Zealand Trainers' Premiership - updated by New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing after today's results - Jason's strike rate is the best of the top 10 trainers - and when you think that effectively (almost) 1 in 3 of our starters this season has been a winner, that is a statistic to be truly proud of.

We now have three Te Akau fillies on the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year scoreboard - Spellbinder, Ruthless Lady and Costa Viva (who was also bought by David - from the Magic Millions Sale).

Thank you to everyone for your lovely messages of congratulations today - we have just thrilled.  This is our second stakes' win of the season and stand by for more to come!

Premierships are based on performances during each racing season (August 1st - July 31st). The jockey and trainer with the most wins at the end of the season are the Premiership winners. These statistics are updated daily.
