Sunday Singapore Racing

The Singapore Turf Club assesses the field at Kranji on Sunday:

RACE 1

Scout Done (5) is coming into the race in hot form. Won well at his last start in spite of the awkward draw. Can expect a similar performance from him. Great Sun (1) ran out of gas after overcoming an outside draw at his last start. His previous five starts saw him finish not further than two lengths from the winner. He should run well with a good draw this time round. Benji's Rule (3) must be considered. His last run can be discounted as he was crowded at the start. Roma (10) does not win often but her only career win came in a Class 5 1200m race on Polytrack. Finished a close second twice at her last two runs in October before going for a spell. Sunday's field is probably too strong for her, but she can still sneak into the placings.

RACE 2

A race with no standouts. First Option (5) ran on well last time out to finish second. Form suggests a win is imminent. Flying Neko (8) made up ground late at his last start and another good run is on the cards. Low draw is a plus. Tongue-tie on for the first time. Trecratic (2) needs more ground and 1400m will be just nice. Outside bet. Real Hero (3) is making some headway. The step-up to 1400m should suit him. Not without a chance.

RACE 3

Mr Spielberg (2) did not enjoy a clear run in the Singapore Guineas, but still ran on well. This is easier. Good record over similar distances with three wins between 1800m and 2200m. Big chance. Three wins and two placings in five races suggest the consistent Mighty Warrior (6) will also be in the mix. Good barrier draw. First test over 2000m but it looks like he can see it out. On-pace runner Imperial Fighter (9) scored an impressive win last time out. He should handle the rise in class well with a lighter load on his back. Place chance. OM (4) is not without a say in this. Can surprise at value.

RACE 4

Fast Rich (1) scored narrowly at his last start. Faces stronger opponents but can still measure up. Happy Happy (2) drops back in grade. Won a similar race four starts back. Marble one helps his cause. Bellus Wonder (4) can secure the lead from his inside draw. Needs to have things his way, but is not without a place chance. Tongue-tie on for the first time. Jet Man (10) finished on the board two starts ago. Drawn well. Can squeeze into the top four.

RACE 5

Hermano Menor (2) was ridden along to take the lead in the Group 3 Three Rings Trophy at his last run in February, but weakened out of it in the end. Back to easier company. May need the run, but he goes well fresh and has to be given some serious thought. Queen's Seven (9) finished on the podium at his last two starts. Inching close to a win. Clip The Ticket (4) has not finished outside the top three in six of his eight starts. Expect to finish well. Agenais (5) has found the step-up in class challenging after winning in a Kranji Stakes D race. Pace was too nippy for him last time out. This looks a touch easier. Could sneak in a place. Long shot.

RACE 6

Dragon Bobo (1) seldom runs a bad race. Probably the one with the best form in the field. He has a good chance of getting off the mark despite his handicap. Shenzhou One (10) seems to do his best when ridden off the pace. Back in trip. Cross nose band on for the first time while his shadow roll goes off. Appellation (5) has yet to be placed in seven runs but has not been beaten far off the winner. Can finish in the money. Follow The King (11) has speed to burn. Has drawn an alley and if he can get a soft lead in front, he can run a cheeky race.

RACE 7

Dreamcatcher (3) goes better over Polytrack. A top-three finish is on the cards. Forget Just Duit's (8) last run when he was hard-pressed to take up his customary role of leader. If he gets a soft lead, he could go all the way. Lucky Six (10) has finished on the board at his last three outings, including scoring at his last race, albeit by a whisker. Rises in class but barrier No 1 is a big help. Polytrack specialist Host The Nation (5) was placed eight times out of the his last 10 starts all over 1200m. Will be in the mix if the others slip up.

RACE 8

It will take something special to beat War Affair (1). Has improved further from his stunning come-from-behind win in the Group 1 Lion City Cup over a distance which is not his best - 1200m. Has come on further and will be even harder to beat over 1400m and at level weights. Accomplished miler Hughsy (4) has a nice turn of foot. Tends to make his runs from the 800m but may take the drop and wait longer if he box-seats from gate No 1. Can make the difference if the favourite falters. Golden Brilliant (5) is up in class, but he is a progressive sort who can hold his own in this company though this is his biggest test by far. Should be able to finish in the money. Knight Wager (8) stormed home for second over 1400m at his last run but in lesser company. Form hard to fault. Job ahead but he can still pinch a place.

RACE 9

Lim's Rally (6) is back from a four-month let-up. Scored at his last win and is certainly not without ability. Can go well fresh. Clutha Lad (2) is looking for a little more distance. Apprentice jockey on his back. Still worth a place. Former Malaysian Smart People (11) came close to recording his first win here, only to be beaten by promising three-year-old Jimmy Rea. Good performance expected. Rising Empire (10) found the rise in class a little rich last time out. Scored two wins over 1200m and cannot be ruled out for a place.

RACE 10

Beaten by a smart type at his last start, Al Valore (1) can come up trumps here. Step-up to the mile should not be a problem. Know Each Other (10) has been a bit unlucky since he moved to the Patrick Shaw yard. Has stacks of ability as he showed at his last run when second to Great Scott. Drawn wide, but it does not matter as he gets back. In the hunt for a long way. Just Name It (7) has not been far from the winner at his last starts. Horror barrier may be against him but his quality can still help him give this his best shot. Blinkers off. Invictus (3) seems to have lost his way at his last two starts. But his four wins have been recorded over the mile. Has drawn the inside. Should still be thereabouts towards the business end.
