Super Singapore Night

Three race wins including the feature Group 3 event on the Kranji programme - what a great Sunday at the Singapore office for Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker.  With Clutha Lad saluting the judge at Kranji on Friday and Enhance at Matamata on Saturday, this made a total of five Te Akau training successes for the weekend.

The highlight was undoubtedly the clean sweep by War Affair as he claimed the final leg of the 3YO Championship - the $150,000 Group 3 Magic Millions 3YO Championship 1600m.  This was the final of the three legs with the two previous also claimed by this outstanding horse.

Not everything went his way when horses moving out pushed him out very wide at the turn for home - but with the expertise of Joao Moreira, War Affair was not to be denied his rightful win and he scorched home to overhaul the second favourite Daniel - a horse that Moreira had ridden in all his previous starts.

Already proclaimed the Champion 2YO of Singapore for last season, there is no question that the son of O'Reilly is now the nation's best 3YO in commission.

Bought by David Ellis from Brent and Cherry Taylor's Trelawney Stud at Karaka, the son of Waikato Stud's champion resident sire cost only $70,000 and has now earned over $500,000 in his five wins from six starts.

It was a fitting farewell to local racing for Joao Moreira as he claimed his final black type victory in Singapore, certainly in the meantime as he leaves to do his future riding in Hong Kong.

To add to the day's exciting results for Mark and the team, Dreamcatcher ridden by stable apprentice Shafiq Rusof and Brahms and Liszt also ridden by Moreira also saluted the judge - so a night of triple success - well done team.
