Super Singapore Win
20 April, 2014
A recent addition to Te Akau Singapore's stable stamped his authority all over the Class 4 1200m on the turf on Sunday at Kranji.
Now prepared by Mark Walker, Mia (by Castledale) was both courageous and authoritative in recording his third career win at just his fourth start.
Mia won stylishly on debut on 5 January at Kranji, powering out of the gates for Corey Brown and was never headed over the 1100m distance. Top jockey Brown has been aboard ever since. He was fourth at his next start in February before again posting a dominant win by 2.3 lengths over 1400m on 2 March.
Of interest, runner up in that last event was Te Akau's Rise 'n' Shine, a 3YO Zabeel gelding out of the very good racemare Kay's Awake. He is a Guineas' bound young horse held in high regard by our stable.
To put it in context, following his second placing to Mia, Rise 'n' Shine has since gone on to record a very strong win on 30 March taking his record to two wins and that second from his three starts - and $80,133 in prizemoney.
On Sunday Mia had to dig deep with Corey Brown again in the saddle - the second favourite hunted him down the straight but the 3YO Kiwi bred found plenty to win by a comfortable margin in the final analysis.
Mia's win was Mark Walker's 15th of the new season - Mark also having recorded 22 seconds and 19 thirds so the team is racing very competitively. One particularly eye catching run came from Sebrose (by Sebring out the the Group 1 Oaks' winnng mare Bramble Rose) - he narrowly missed winning at just his second start so follow him closely.
Mia is raced by Lim Siang Huat, Mia's stakes' earnings are closing in on the $100,000 from only four starts - he looks to have an exciting future ahead of him.
