Te Akau NZ Matamata Preview
11 October, 2013
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered during the nine-race programme on Saturday October 12 at Matamata.
As at 8:34am on Friday Oct. 11 the conditions were: showery and Slow7, rail true.
1:42pm R3 3 Enhance (3 f Saperavi - Pinstinct) - Matt Cameron (pictured with Michael Dee aboard); gave breeder/owner Karyn Fenton-Ellis a huge thrill with her debut win on Sept. 11 at Te Rapa. On footing upgraded from Slow8 to Slow7, she came from off the pace and unleashed a powerful finish in centre track to win over 1200 metres in 1:13.01. Given time since, she now faces a small field of five in the 3YO 1200 metres and can prove competitive.
2:46pm R5 4 Prospero (6 g High Chaparral - Alfred's Jewel) - Matt Cameron; resumes from an 85-day let up in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres. He won fresh up over 1670 metres on Slow9 footing at Paeroa, in May, and two starts later posted a win here on Heavy10 over 2000 metres. While benefit will come from outing, he is likely to appreciate the going.
