Te Akau - 7 Wins in 7.5 Hours in 3 Countries

Te Akau trainers Jamie Richards (New Zealand) and Mark Walker (Singapore) and our teams provided a huge result for Te Akau owners in a 7.5 hour winning spree on Saturday.

Dominating the premier meeting at Hastings, Te Akau's 'girls' brigade' were in scintillating form! The headline act was Miss Aotearoa claiming the Group 3 Hawkes' Bay Breeders' Gold Trail Stakes, Jamie's third stakes' race title for the season, with Vamos Bebe and Savy Yong Blonk posting impressive undercard wins.

Avantage unfortunately spent a lot of time in the gates, was backed out to adjust a barrier blanket and then missed the start in the Group 1 Tarzino Trophy - but she rallied stylishly to finish third in the feature.

Te Akau also committed $500 to the Cancer Society's Daffodil Day Fundraiser at Hastings for every race won - thus a total of $1,500 will be donated by David and Karyn. A challenge was issued to every other stable so hopefully a good total will be raised for such an important cause.

Our New Zealand stable however had one further statement to make - Probabeel stepped out at Royal Randwick in Sydney and was stunning in her Group 3 Bill Ritchie Stakes' victory. She now heads to the Group 1 Epsom Handicap in two weeks' time - the race which saw Te Akau Shark finish a very close runner up last season - for which she is currently the second favourite.

Te Akau's Singapore stable picked up proceedings at Kranji with Mark Walker presenting the winners of Race 7, 10 and 11 - Brutus, I Am Sacred and Hidden Promise.

Mark leads the Singapore Trainers' Premiership with 39 wins ( a lead of two) while Jamie Richards likewise is atop of the New Zealand Trainers' Premiership with 15 wins for the season, a lead of four. Te Akau also has earned more stake money than any New Zealand stable thus far this season, and won more Group/Listed races.

The Singapore season concludes in December 2020 while the New Zealand season is only less than two months' old, and ends on 31 July 2021.
