Te Akau's David Ellis was the A$700,000 under bidder on a Sydney premier colt today.
Thank you to everyone who emailed and called about being involved in the stunning colt we had our eye on at Sydney.
He was Lot 416 - a colt by Redoute's Choice from Group winning Zabeel mare Zarzuela (who we trained).
Although bidding to A$700,000, David was sadly the underbidder - we thought that by the time he was landed home and with the exchange rate, this was as far as we wished to go. He was bought by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Ruler and Finance Minister of the UAE for A$720,000.
We suspect he has slightly larger pockets than us!!
We do however have our eye on a couple of superb colts at the Gold Coast Sale in the first week of June and David will be flying over in late May to inspect them with Mark Walker coming over from Singapore as well.
