Te Akau Ashburton Friday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has six horses racing on Friday 30 August at Ashburton.

Weather: fine, track: Slow7, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

2.07 p.m. R4 2 Bojangles (6 g Roc de Cambes - Stever
House) - Michael McNab;
continued solid form when finishing third in very testing conditions on 20 July
in the Rating 65 1800 metres at New Plymouth, following third a
fortnight earlier in the Rating 65 2100 metres at Te Rapa. A winner on slow and
heavy footing, he rates a top three chance in the $10,000 Rating 65 1600
metres.

2.42 p.m. R5 6 Dublin Rose (4 m O'Reilly - Irish
Dream) - Michael
McNab; has been unlucky not to have won, registering two seconds, third,
and two fourths, from eight starts, and resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 1250 metres,
following two good seconds at the trials in July at Te Rapa. She can act fresh
and ideally placed to threaten.

3.18 p.m. R6 1 Lethal (3 c Savabeel - Katie Lee) - Michael McNab; was given one start as a
two-year-old when finishing second in April at Hastings, and two recent trials
in preparation to resume in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1250 metres. His dam, Katie Lee (Pins), was the first horse in history to win both the 2000
Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), and he receives an
ideal first-up opportunity to perform well.

3.18 p.m. R6 3 Xplosion
(3 f Showcasing - Xpress) - Sam Weatherley; gained race experience at two and
trialled well on both occasions in July at Te Rapa. A sister to
Wakefield Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) winner Xpression, she has the ability to
overcome a wide draw (11) and resume with a bold performance in the $10,000
Maiden 3YO 1250 metres.

3.53 p.m. R7 2 Publicist (4 g Redoute's Choice - Valadon) - Michael McNab; recorded a
copybook win over a mile here last October and gelded since contesting the 2000
Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) in November at Riccarton. After two solid trial
performances in July at Te Rapa, and although destined to go further, he can
produce an encouraging first-up run with luck from a wide draw (13) in the $10,000
Rating 65 1250 metres.

4.26 p.m. R8 1 Fabulous Flight (5 g I Am Invincible -
Court Flying) - Michael
McNab; ended his previous campaign in April, finishing second in the Rating
82 2200 metres at Te Rapa, and has looked fine in two preparatory trials. The
winner of three races to 1600 metres, he brings consistent form and capable of
a bold resuming effort in the $11,000 Rating 72 1400 metres.
