Te Akau Ashburton Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the nine race programme on Friday 26 August at Ashburton.

As on Thursday 25 August the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 3 metres. 17mls rain forecast 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. race day.

2.22 p.m. R5 4 Carmenize (4 m Any Suggestion - Zevita) - Matt Cameron; trialled solidly for fourth on 2 August at Te Teko, and resumes off 127 days in the Maiden 1200 metres. She was swamped late on debut after trialling well in August last year, has the speed to take advantage of barrier one and showed enough in the north to be competitive here on dead/slow footing.

3.34 p.m. R7 12 Play For Time (3 f Foxwedge - Procrastinate) - Matt Cameron; makes her debut from barrier nine in the Maiden 1200 metres. In her first trial, as a two-year-old in April at Te Teko, she began smartly and never flinched when finishing a close second to stable-mate O'Naturelle (O'Reilly) who won on debut last Friday at Taupo. More recently, she picked up late in the piece for second when trialling on 2 August at Te Teko. Matt (Cameron) has ridden her in both trials. From a Tristarc Stakes' (Gr. 3, 1400m) winning mare Procrastinate (Jade Hunter), who won her first three starts, she has the credentials to warrant favouritism in this field.
