Te Akau Ashburton Sunday Preview

Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Sunday 3 November at Ashburton.

Ashburton:

Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

1:20 p.m. R3 1 Knowledge Is Power (3 g Written Tycoon – Hectopascal) – Vinnie Colgan; he was claimed near the line after leading when resuming in the Maiden 3YO 1000 metres on 6 October at Awapuni (poly-track), and contests the $18,500 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. He was previously a stylish trial winner on the turf and is ideally drawn in barrier one to prove competitive. Fixed odds: $3.90 & $1.75.

4:58 p.m. R9 7 Family Ties (5 m Contributer – Glamazon) – Amber Riddell (a4); she finished strongly to grab second in her trial on 8 October at Matamata, and resumes in the $18,500 Rating 75 1400 metres. A stakes' winner last season, all three of her wins have come on soft footing. She enjoys weight relief to 51kg, with the apprentice jockey aboard unbeaten in two rides to date for the stable, and she is perfectly drawn (4) to race well fresh-up - one of two stable runners in the event. Fixed odds: $17.00 & $4.20.

4:58 p.m. R9 9 Alminette (5 m Burgundy – High Heels) – Vinnie Colgan; she found the line from back in the field without threatening in the Rating 75 1400 metres here on 12 October, won by race rival Spot On Time, and also contests the $18,500 Rating 75 1400 metres. She brings a solid record to the contest, has been stakes' placed, and receives the opportunity to improve from barrier one. Fixed odds: $9.50 & $2.80.

5:36 p.m. R10 2 Bello Mio (5 g Deep Field – Bella Francesca) – Vinnie Colgan; he had to change ground from last and so ran on well for sixth in the Rating 65 1400 metres here on 12 October, won by stable-mate Vivacious, and contests the $18,500 Rating 65 1400 metres. A dual winner, he has placed to 1400 metres, and rates a top three chance from barrier five. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.75.
