Te Akau Ashburton Thursday Preview

Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Thursday 14 March at Ashburton.

Ashburton:

Weather: overcast, track: Soft6, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

12:26 p.m. R1 11 Tranquila (3 f Iffraaj – Equanimity) – Warren Kennedy; she was steadied back from a wide gate (12) and made ground through the field to finish fourth in the Maiden 1400 metres on 23 February at Riccarton. Contesting the $18,500 Entain – NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1600 metres (eligible $26,000 bonuses), she is racing well and rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $3.00 & $1.50.

2:15 p.m. R4 5 Can’t Kach Me (4 m Tavistock – Kachina) – Warren Kennedy; she finished strongly out of midfield for third in the Maiden 2000 metres on 23 February at Riccarton, and contests the $18,500 Maiden 2200 metres. Out of a Zabeel (Sir Tristram) mare, she is handling the middle distances, and is also a definite top three prospect. Fixed odds: $3.50 & $1.55.

3:25 p.m. R6 9 French Rose (4 m Burgundy – Paraiba) – Warren Kennedy; she finished well in close quarters for sixth in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 18 January at Riccarton, has been given time (56 days), and contests the $18,500 Rating 65 1200 metres. A consistent type, she is ideally drawn (4) to have first four claims. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $2.00.

4:04 p.m. R7 4 Millefiori (5 m Iffraaj – Miss Bluebell) – Warren Kennedy; she ran the fastest last 600m (31.7) on the day for second in the Open Handicap 1100 metres on 10 February at Riccarton, and contests the $25,000 Open Handicap 1200 metres. She did well to finish fourth to stable-mate Kai (Ocean Park) in the Hazlett Stakes (Listed, 1200m) on Boxing Day at Wingatui, and has the ability to be right in the thick of things at the business end of proceedings. Fixed odds: $3.50 & $1.50.
