Te Akau Ashburton Thursday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Thursday 29 October at Ashburton.

Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: true. 2mls rain forecast Thursday morning.

12.47 p.m. R2 1 Lethal (4 g Savabeel - Katie Lee) -
Danielle Johnson; ran on without threatening off a wide trip in the $10,000
Maiden 1400 metres last Saturday at Riccarton, and backs up in the
corresponding event. His recent efforts have been solid and he rates a top four
chance despite drawing wide (12).

4.17 p.m. R8 5 Bordeaux Le Rouge (3 g Burgundy - De La
Vere) - Samantha Wynne; finished fourth in good form field on 3 October in the
Inglewood Stud Guineas Trial (3YO, 1400m) at Riccarton, and drops in class for
the $10,000 Rating 65
1400 metres. He had a very good two-year-old season, culminating a
second, first, and fourth, respectively, with fourth to stable-mate Cool Aza
Beel (Savabeel) in the $1m Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m) and
rates a top three chance despite drawing wide (11).

4.17 p.m. R8 9 Supreme Khan (3 g Mongolian Khan -
Angelica Hall) - Danielle Johnson; started his career in the best possible
fashion by winning the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 9 October at Timaru, with
Johnson aboard, and steps up in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres. From a gifted and
athletic family with trademark abilities to quicken, he should race well again
with luck from a wide draw (13).

5.25 p.m. R10 1 Aotea Lad (4 g Savabeel - Corsage) - Rohan
Mudhoo (a2); resumed with a very good second in the Rating 97 1200 metres on 12
September and hard to knock on 3 October in the Rating 74 1200 metres, both at
Riccarton.  A horse with ability and
former nominee for Champion Two-Year-Old, he receives weight relief to 58kgs
and rates a top three chance with luck from barrier 10 in the $11,000 Rating 74
1400 metres.
