27 September, 2017
Te Akau Ashburton trackwork highlights - Wednesday 27 September -
The course proper was used with the markers out 9 metres from the rail. Track described as a Dead4 by both the track manager Gary Chamberlain and Danny Miller although Danny thought it might be Slow in the back straight at both the 1000m and 1200m positions.
Imperium (Newman) and Grazia (Miller) galloped together from the 1200m in 1.18.7, getting to the line strongly over the final 600m in 37.2. They hit the finish locked together with Grazia travelling very well - Imperium was keen to keep galloping after the finish line.
Age Of Fire (Newman) and Tiffany's Time (Miller) went strongly together from the 1000m in 1.06.6, the last 600m taking 37.6. Age of Fire held a slight advantage at the line but it was an impressive gallop from both horses.
Heart Of Courage (Newman) and King Kane (Miller) galloped together from the 1000m in the time 1.07.9, the final 600m taking 38.3 with King Kane holding a half-length advantage at the finish - both worked along very nicely.
Lady Amadeus (Newman) galloped with Swing Note (Miller) - while thisĀ gallop was a little slower than the previous ones, the 1000m being completed in 1.09.3, the final 600m taking 38.8 both horses enjoyed their work and the team was happy.
