Te Akau Avondale Preview
7 June, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has five horses entered for the eleven race programme on Wednesday 8 June at Avondale.
As on Tuesday 7 June the conditions were: cloudy and Dead6, rail true. No rain forecast.
11.10 a.m. R2 5 Abloom (2 f Darci Brahma - Corsage) - Matt Cameron; trialled up nicely for second with apprentice Hanafi aboard at Cambridge, and ready to resume in the NZB Pearl Series Maiden 2YO 800 metres. Much will depend on where she can position from barrier ten, but two previous race day experiences should serve her well.
11.40 a.m. R3 9 Lady Masako (2 f Iffraaj - Lady Sakura) - Matt Cameron; was not disgraced on debut in the Maiden 2YO 1300 metres at Hastings, in a good form race won by subsequent Castletown Stakes (Listed, 1200m) runner-up Honey Rider (Pins). Eligible for the $8,000 bonus in the second of the NZB Pearl Series Maiden 2YO 800 metres events, she has visor blinkers on and drawn to receive all favours from barrier two.
12.45 p.m. R5 10 Christine Louise (3 f O'Reilly - Happily Ever After) - Matt Cameron; never came on behind winning stable-mate Its Our Showtime (Showcasing) when resuming in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres at Otaki, and from barrier six receives a chance to redeem in the Maiden 1200 metres.
2.30 p.m. R8 13 Gardenier (3 f Rip Van Winkle - Miss Montjeu) - Matt Cameron; is handily drawn in barrier three to resume with visor blinkers on in the Maiden 1400 metres. She worked home from back in the field when trialling over 935 metres at Cambridge, and shapes to appreciate an increase in distance.
3.34 p.m. R10 4 Tavis Star (4 m Tavistock - Megapins) - Hanafi Noorman (a4); produced another top run for third in the $20,000 Rating 65 1400 metres at Rotorua, and steps to 1600 metres from barrier two. Apprentice Hanafi rides a lot of her work and having finished second over a mile at her only course attempt she brings the right overall form to threaten.
