Te Akau Avondale Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the ten-race programme on Wednesday June 11 at Avondale.

As on Tuesday June 10 the conditions were: raining and Slow8, rail true.

12:50pm R4 10 Jewels Gift (3 f Stravinsky - Jesmonds Gift) - Matt Cameron; resumes off a 186-day break in the Maiden 1200 metres, having trialled on May 13 at Te Awamutu. She finished second here to Telepathic (Mossman) on good ground when resuming from a spell in October last year and provided she can cope with conditions has the natural ability to be competitive. She is also entered in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres race 5 at 1:25pm.

3:10pm R8 4 Resonance (4 g Darci Brahma - Royal Rhythm) - Mick Dee (a1); stuck gamely to his task to finish sixth after leading when debuting on May 22 in the Maiden 1400 metres on Dead5 footing at Hastings. Up to a mile here, trainer Jason Bridgman has reservations about him starting on ground worse than the current Slow8 and he may be reserved for the Maiden 1400 metres on Saturday at Ruakaka.

3:45pm R9 10 Merrily (3 f O'Reilly - Mchappy) - Matt Cameron; raced away to win by nearly five lengths on May 22 in the Maiden 1400 metres on Dead5 footing at Hastings, having run home stylishly for third when resuming here prior over 1200 metres. Up in grade, from a handy gate, in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres, she is an unknown commodity on slow/heavy footing come race day but has given some indication of coping with it in training.
