Te Akau Avondale Preview
14 July, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race programme on Friday 15 July at Avondale.
As on Thursday 14 July the conditions were: showery and Heavy10, rail out 9 metres. 1ml forecast race day.
3.18 p.m. R6 6 Latin Rose (4 m Mastercraftsman - Down View) - Matt Cameron; carried 60kgs and was caught wide in the $22,500 Rating 75 1600 metres at Ruakaka. Having resumed three starts ago with a very good win in the Rating 75 1150 metres at Waipa, dropping back in distance to 1200 metres should be okay but she does strike some accomplished wet track sprinters.
3.51 p.m. R7 11 Gardenier (3 f Rip Van Winkle - Miss Montjeu) - Matt Cameron; was much improved when finishing a close second in the fastest (1:43.1) of the three mile races at the last meeting here, 22 June on Heavy10 and gets her chance to go one better in the corresponding Maiden 1600 metres.
4.22 p.m. R8 8 Spritz (3 f Thorn Park - Spray) - Matt Cameron; tracked up from off the pace to score here in $12,000 NZB Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1600 metres on 22 June and Pearl Series registered she also collected the $11,500 bonus. Although up in grade for the Rating 65 1600 metres, having won that calibre of race by two lengths is good form.
