Te Akau Avondale Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Wednesday 26 October at Avondale.

As on Tuesday 25 October the conditions were: showery and Dead5, rail out 3 metres. 1.5mls rain forecast prior to meeting.

2.05 p.m. R2 7 Herschal (4 g Savabeel - Starring) - Michael McNab; finished seventh to Romancer (Redwood) when resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres on Dead5 at Ruakaka. Drawn barrier two, with visor blinkers on, he should also be suited stepping to 1400 metres.

2.40 p.m. R3 9 Tiffany's Time (3 f Alamosa - Tinsel Time) - Matt Cameron; took a while to work clear from the trail when finishing a close second in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres at Ruakaka, and contests the corresponding race. Notable in all three starts, she appears a good each chance with a favourable trip from barrier eight.

2.40 p.m. R3 12 Madam Monica (3 f Mastercraftsman - Lynisky) - Cameron Lammas; recovered after a slow beginning to resume with a solid sixth in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres at Ruakaka, and a swifter start from barrier four should make her competitive in this field.

4.25 p.m. R6 3 Rocksun (4 g Fastnet Rock - Beyond the Sunset) - Michael McNab; was only just denied with a fresh up second in the Rating 75 1200 metres on Slow8 at Waverley, and contests the corresponding event albeit against a stronger field. He has fashioned a solid record, with two wins and two seconds from only seven starts, and should go well again from barrier seven.

4.25 p.m. R6 8 Vinevale (4 m Flying Spur - Eden Valley) - Matt Cameron; resumes off 165 days in the Rating 75 1200 metres, drawn barrier twelve of thirteen. Already an impressive winner fresh up over 1200 metres, on two occasions, including her debut win on this course with Cameron aboard, she is ideally weighted (54.5kgs) and possesses the class at best to prove very competitive.
