Te Akau Avondale Preview
23 March, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Friday 24 March at Avondale.
As on Thursday 23 March the conditions were: cloudy and Dead4, rail true. No rain forecast.
1.32 p.m. R3 1 More Than Fast (4 g Fastnet Rock - Morgalicious) - Opie Bosson; looked hard to roll when strongly supported over 1200 metres last time at Wairoa, beaten a nose after receiving a chequered run at the rear and finishing quickly. Drawn barrier five in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres, he has been runner-up in each of his three starts, deserves success, and again appears an each way chance in a tougher field.
3.18 p.m. R6 3 Alamosa Express (3 g Alamosa - Danewhisper) - Opie Bosson; was denied the opportunity to race last Friday, with the abandonment at Te Aroha, and resumes off 114 days in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. His action looked good in a quiet preparatory trial on 14 February at Cambridge, after winning stylishly on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 30 November at Pukekohe. Drawing barrier one ensures an economical trip and a glowing performance would bode well in what is clearly a Saturday quality field. He is a half-brother to stable-mate and six-time winner Hushed (Don Eduardo) and Secret Whisper (Align), who won four races.
