Te Akau Avondale Preview
10 November, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Friday 10 November at Avondale.
As on race morning the conditions were: cloudy and Dead5, rail out 4 metres. No rain forecast.
2.52 p.m. R4 13 Dazed and Confused (4 m Showcasing - Real Success) - Opie Bosson; tracked up stylishly before running out of room when trialling on 24 October at Cambridge, with Bosson aboard, and makes her debut in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. She looked good winning her second trial, in March at Matamata. There is no shortage of quality in the family and indicators point to a strong first up effort.
4.04 p.m. R6 14 English Rose (3 f Makfi - Bislieri) - Cameron Lammas; was a notable sixth behind 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 2000m) entrant Ever Loyal (Sebring) when debuting in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on 18 October at Te Aroha, with Lammas aboard. Stable-mate Bak da Master (Mastercraftsman) finished second and subsequent winner Iago (Savabeel) was fourth. With blinkers on she steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 1600 metres. She trialled well here for second in September and the extra distance appears ideal for her to threaten this field.
5.20 p.m. R8 6 Wide Awake (4 g Savabeel - Kay's Awake) - Opie Bosson; produced a big run for second in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 20 October at Tauranga, after an early race check saw him back further than intended. He came from the rear to finish second here at his only course attempt, won his Maiden over a mile with Bosson aboard, and likely to command plenty of support, in a solid field, from barrier five in the $10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres.
