Te Akau Avondale Preview
30 November, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Thursday 30 November at Avondale.
As on race morning the conditions were: fine and Dead45 rail out 7 metres. 3mls rain forecast 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. race day.
2.27 p.m. R4 6 Scarlet Princess (4 m Redwood - Volks Princess) - Michael McNab; has trialled twice in preparation to resume in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. She broke through with a stylish win over 1200 metres in March at Pukekohe, beating subsequent dual winner Rikki Tikki Tavi (Tavistock), and spelled soon after. With blinkers on, she can make an immediate impact given a decent trip from barrier six.
3.02 p.m. R5 14 Verbal Command (3 f Commands - Donna Sienna) - Michael McNab; was freshened following two starts over 1400m and 1600m, respectively, at Ruakaka, in which not all went her way. Resuming off 57 days in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1400 metres, with family evidence of appreciating further, a strong finish could put into first four calculations.
3.37 p.m. R6 13 Gipsyrocker (3 f Fastnet Rock - Gipsy Countess) - Cameron Lammas; was ridden quietly from a wide draw on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on 14 November at Te Aroha, and contests the corresponding event from barrier seven. Fitting the mould of a staying filly, from a dam that won over 2400 metres in the U.K., she can certainly improve on her first up effort in a field sporting some well bred opponents.
4.12 p.m. R7 15 Unfazed (4 m Zabeel - Fazed) - Michael McNab; lost her chance when missing the start, resuming in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 12 November at Hastings, yet continued finding the line solidly for sixth. Drawn barrier five in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres, she won her Maiden over this distance by nearly four lengths in January and capable of further improvement on her first up run.
