Te Akau Avondale Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the ten-race programme on Wednesday Sept. 17 at Avondale.

As on Tuesday Sept. 16 the conditions were: raining and Heavy10, rail out 9 metres.

1.53 p.m. R4 6 Bettorock (3 f Fastnet Rock - Astounded) - Matt Cameron; trialled very well through August with a win and a third, respectively, in two outings at Te Teko, and makes her debut from barrier one in a Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. Her dam Astounded won her first trial on heavy footing and her stakes winning third dam, Sequel Sound (Sound Reason), harboured plenty of speed. Hailing from a good family, she is a filly that has shown the right attributes thus far to prove competitive first up.

2.28 p.m. R5 9 No Tricks (3 f Savabeel - Mezaire) - Matt Cameron; is another on debut in a Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. She displayed willing attributes winning her first trial in June and more recently, when trialling over 800 metres on Aug. 26 at Te Teko, rounded off in good fashion for third. Bred 3 x 3 to Success Express (Hold Your Peace), her half-brother, Hayleys Comet (Hard Spun), was a winner on heavy going over 1200 metres and having Al Akbar as the dam sire generally helps the cause in this type of going.
