Te Akau Avondale Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the ten-race premier programme for the Counties Racing Club on Saturday November 22 at Avondale.

As on Friday November 21 the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true.

1.35 p.m. R3 6 Windborne (2 f Darci Brahma - Sweet Dreams Baby) - Matt Cameron; received a lovely trail and came clear to win untouched on debut in the 2YO 880 metres on Oct. 25 at Ellerslie, and following a brief freshen-up she takes her place in barrier six for the Murdoch Newell 2YO Stakes (Listed, 1100m). The current $2.80 fixed odds favourite for the race, having clocked a sizzling last 600m in 32.8 when winning, she appears to have done very well between races and strips in tip-top condition. A sister to Darci's Dream, who last Saturday did Fortuna and Te Akau proud when finishing runner-up in the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), she possesses all the right attributes in a young filly to take some beating.

3.57 p.m. R7 12 Show No Emotion (5 m Pins - Lynisky) - Matt Cameron; came between runners with a strong close for second, after being last at the 300m, in the Rating 75 1600 metres here on Nov. 5. Resuming here at her previous start, she stood the leaders eight lengths at the 500m, on a quick tempo, and accelerated in centre track to win the Rating 75 1400 metres on Oct. 15. Again beautifully drawn (3) in the Rating 75 1600 metres, she strikes a field with more depth overall but has both the form and ability to threaten with the right run.
