Te Akau trailled horses at Avondale on Tuesday 16 August 2022

Weather: overcast, track: Heavy10, rail: out 12 metres.

Heat 1 2YO 600 metres (head, ¾ lengths 38.0)

Balance of Power (2 c Almanzor - Respin) - Craig Grylls; raced between horses on pace and remained in the fight with a good gallop for close second.

Trobriand (2 c Kermadec - Arboreal) - Troy Harris; raced three wide on pace from the outside barrier and kept up a good gallop for close third.

Heat 2 2YO 600 metres (long neck, 5 lengths 38.1)

Cylonic King (2 c Exceed And Excel - Lady Krovanh) - Troy Harris; co-led near the rail, was held together, lengthened to advantage at the 200m and came clear for a soft win.

Heat 3 2YO 600 metres (long head, 4 ½ lengths 37.9)

Pay The Dancer (2 c Nicconi - Choreography) - Troy Harris; stumbled out of the gates, was touch green cornering, and was held together in the straight with an action that appears suited to better ground.

Heat 5 Open 800 metres (head, 1 ¼ lengths 50.0)

Grace ‘N' Grey (3 f Spirit Of Boom - Gracious Grey) - Niranjan Parmar; began well to settle second, four lengths off the leader nearing the home turn and kept closing with a strong finish, unpressured, to win - pictured below on race day.

Malborough Bay (3 g Darci Brahma - Spin ‘N Grin) - Opie Bosson; got back on the inner, was seven lengths off at the 600m but closed stylishly for third.

Dancarina (4 m Sebring - Dance For Me) - Troy Harris; began well to travel boldly in third and ran home strongly, held together, for a close up fourth.

Albatross (4 m Sacred Falls - Bint Piavonic) - Joe Kamaruddin; steadied to last from the outside gate, was 10 lengths off at the 600m, angled widest in the straight and closed the margin with a strong gallop.

Sicilian Dream (4 m Dream Ahead - Taormina) - Craig Grylls; was caught wide beyond midfield, she remained back but was not pushed and looked fine.

Heat 6 Open 800 metres (¾ lengths, 2 ¾ lengths 50.0)

Soprano Supreme (5 m Contributer - Falsetto) - Niranjan Parmar; got back last over the sprint trip, six lengths away at the 600m, she closed with strong finish for third.

Cote de Beaune (4 g Burgundy - Lucrative) - Opie Bosson; got back second last, five lengths at the 600m, was held up in straight and worked through boldly late to photo-finish for fourth - pictured below on race day.

Highborn (5 m Savabeel - Tempo Manor) - Joe Kamaruddin; trailed third from barrier two, stayed on the inner, and was held together while galloping home solidly to photo-finish for fourth.

Florencenightngale (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Reigning Dynasty) - Craig Grylls; was three wide in midfield from her wide gate and ran home well without being pressured.

Shepherd's Delight (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Safari Sunset) - Troy Harris; positioned between runners in midfield and not pushed while remaining among runners in the straight.

Heat 7 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (1 ¼ lengths, head 51.3)

Savoir Faire (3 g Savabeel - Etiquette) - Opie Bosson; was fifth on the inner, improved into the clear turning for home, putting in a strong finish but loafed the last little bit for third.

3 f Wrote - Vickezzlepin - Joe Kamaruddin; was caught wide in the open but she sustained a strong run for fourth.

Heat 8 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (3 lengths, neck 50.4)

3 g Pariah - Shamar - Niranjan Parmar; began well from his outside gate, co-led on the outer, was headed at the 300m but rallied gamely for second.

Time Flies (3 g Time Test - Rorippa) - Opie Bosson; steadied from barrier one, was quite keen, but ran home strongly between runners for third.

Heat 9 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (2 ½ lengths, long neck 50.3)

Zantabulous (3 f Almanzor - Zantelagh) - Joe Kamaruddin; was easy off her wide gate, settled back to last, however tracked up nicely behind runners in the straight and sustained a good gallop to photo-finish for third.

French Rose (3 f Burgundy - Paraiba) - Niranjan Parmar; began well from outside barrier, steadied midfield in the open, got back at the turn, ducked in and remained back but was okay in action, looking unappreciative of track conditions.

Heat 10 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (length, head 50.9)

Petrucci (3 f I Am Invincible - Via Napoli) - Opie Bosson; was a touch awkward to begin, was keen in fourth, and was a bit green in the straight while sustaining a good gallop for second.

Heat 11 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (head, 3 ¼ lengths 51.1)

3 f Rubick - Sandownboulevard- Niranjan Parmar; got back last from the outside gate, tracked up with cover, lay in but rounded off fine for fifth.

Playing With Fire (3 g Astern - Dragon Robe) - Joe Kamaruddin; tardy to begin, he recovered to settle fifth on the inner, and while clear turning for home he was unable to quicken on the heavy ground.

Heat 12 Open 1000 metres (long head, neck 1:08.6)

Outfit (4 m Tivaci - Costume) - Opie Bosson; trailed third from barrier one, she went clear on straightening and ran home strongly to win - pictured below on race day.

Madame Moet (5 m Iffraaj - Champagne Katie) - Niranjan Parmar; wanted to go touch keenly between runners in fifth, but tracked through in the straight with a good finish for fourth.

Hayate (4 m Maurice - Vamoose) - Joe Kamaruddin; got back from the outside gate, improved widest at the 600m and ran home fine without looking overly comfortable on heavy footing.

Heat 13 Open 1000 metres (neck, ¾ lengths 1:07.7)

Maven Belle (3 f Burgundy - Doyenne) - Niranjan Parmar; tracked the bunch, camped in fifth at the 600m, and did well in getting through for second.

I Choose You (3 f I Am Invincible - Choose) - Joe Kamaruddin; began smartly, steadied mid inner, and did well getting through nearer the rail for third.

Zeitaku (4 g Savabeel - Miss Opulence) - Troy Harris; got back last over sprint trip, was five lengths off at the 600m, pushed up without being able to quicken in the going but looked fine finishing fifth.

Heat 14 Open 1000 metres (length, 1 ¾ lengths 1:07.6)

La Flora Belle (5 m Iffraaj - Tsarina Belle) - Opie Bosson; situated handily, she improved in line rounding the home turn and sustained a strong run for second - pictured below on race day.

Aromatic (6 m Sacred Falls - Vickezzchardonnay) - Joe Kamaruddin; began well from barrier one, going okay at the 600m, and finished well to the inside of runners for fourth.

Mohawk Brave (4 g Extreme Choice - Ben's Duchess) - Troy Harris; got back from the wide draw, improved at the 600m point, was widest in the straight but unable to really quicken in the ground - otherwise fine.

Heat 15 Open 1000 metres (head, 1 ¾ lengths 1:08.0)

Dynastic (3 c Almanzor - Meir) - Opie Bosson; was three wide fifth, improved to second at the 700m, was obviously not overly comfortable on heavy footing but picked up well for third.

Luxembourg (4 g Burgundy - Miss Daphne) - Niranjan Parmar; was easy from wide gate, improved at the 700m, another not overly comfortable on heavy footing but nonetheless ran on home well for fourth.

Navalha (5 g Sebring - Afiado) - Troy Harris; drifted from midfield, six lengths at the 600m, but was unable to quicken on heavy ground.

Heat 16 Open 1000 metres (head, head 1:08.7)

Luxuriant (5 m Iffraaj - Opulent) - Joe Kamaruddin; began well to lead, was shaken up rounding the home turn and sustained her gallop, unpressured, for a close second - pictured below on race day.

Fashion Shoot (5 m Savabeel - High Fashion) - Niranjan Parmar; began well, was steadied in fourth, switched to the inner at the 300m and ran home well for fourth.

On The Bubbles (4 g Brazen Beau - More Bubbles) - Troy Harris; settled fifth, was clear in line turning for home but was another unable to really quicken in the going and finished fifth.

Heat 17 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (¾ lengths, 3 ¼ lengths 1:09.3)

Skew Wiff (3 f Savabeel - Starvoia) - Joe Kamaruddin; got back last from the outside gate, had her head up wanting to go quicker, and finished strongly down the outside for second.

Heat 18 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (1 ¾ lengths, long neck 1:08.4)

Believe It Or Not (3 g Star Witness - Believe You Me) - Opie Bosson; improved three wide to sixth at the 600m, tracked up widest rounding the home turn and sustained a strong finish to win nicely.

Treaty Of Paris (3 c Tavistock - Echezeaux) - Joe Kamaruddin; steadied back to last, was six lengths away at the 600m, made a run on inside of his rivals in the straight and did well to finish second.

Heat 19 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (¾ lengths, 3 ¼ lengths 1:07.9)

Dignitosa (3 f Xtravagant - Infra Dig) - Opie Bosson; was quite keen between runners in midfield, better when getting to the outside at the 600m but she too was unable to really quicken in the heavy ground and was held together late.

Varuni (3 f Darci Brahma - Inniskillen) - Joe Kamaruddin; reared in gates, but pushed through to second position on the inner, fought on but was clearly not comfortable in the going over the concluding stages.

Heat 20 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (long neck, short neck 1:08.0)

Molly Shaw (3 f Burgundy - Belorussiya) - Joe Kamaruddin; got back from her inside draw, settled last, edged closer at the 300m and fought well nearer the rail for fourth.

Heat 21 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (½ length, 2 ¼ lengths 1:10.0)

One Kiss (3 f Tivaci - Discreet Evening) - Opie Bosson; shared the lead three wide, travelled okay to the 600m, quickened to advantage by the 200m and sustained a strong run to win.

Heat 22 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (1 ¾ lengths, head 1:08.6)

Romancing The Moon (3 f El Roca - Underthemoonlight) - Joe Kamaruddin; began smartly from her outside gate to co-lead widest, held the advantage at the 200m and sustained a strong gallop to win well.

Heat 23 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (3 ½ lengths, length 1:09.2)

Sans Doute (3 f Not A Single Doubt - My Prerogative) - Troy Harris; settled fifth on the outer chasing a tearaway leader, travelled okay, and powered up along the outside fence to win with her ears pricked.

Armino (3 c Fastnet Rock - Luna Rossa) - Opie Bosson; was third chasing a tearaway leader, fourth at the 300m, but he never appeared comfortable over concluding stages in the heavy going.

Heat 24 Maiden 4YO & Up 1000 metres (¾ lengths, head 1:10.3)

Trieste (4 m Tivaci - Domani Oro) - Niranjan Parmar; began well, settled fifth, travelled okay to the 600m and sustained a very good finish for second.

Illicit Miss (4 m Hinchbrook - Unlawful) - Troy Harris; situated handily on inner from barrier one, stayed near the rail and ran home very well for a close third.

Heat 25 Maiden 4YO & Up 1000 metres (1 ¼ lengths, short neck 1:09.9)

Belle Of The Ball (4 m Savabeel - Lady Tatia) - Niranjan Parmar; got back on the inner, edged closer at the 600m behind runners, through nearer on the rail in the straight, she sustained a very good gallop to win well.

Patriarca (4 m Savabeel - Baby Shacks) - Joe Kamaruddin; got back among the last four, lost momentum rounding the home turn, showing a dislike for the going but otherwise ran home okay.

Heat 26 Maiden 4YO & Up 1000 metres (½ length, 5 ½ lengths 1:08.1)

Hero Worship (4 g Xtravagant - Idol) - Niranjan Parmar; began smartly from barrier one to lead at a genuine pace, held a handy advantage on straightening and sustained a strong gallop to win nicely.

Savito (4 m Savabeel - Suavito) - Opie Bosson; began well, steadied back on the inner, was four lengths away at the 600m, however kept making good ground near the rail for second.

Heat 27 Open 1200 metres (3 ½ lengths, 3 ½ lengths 1:19.7)

Te Akau Caliburn (8 g Camelot - Enchanted Evening) - Troy Harris; got back of four over the sprint trip, improved to third on the inner at the 800m, but was unable to quicken in straight on heavy going - pictured below on race day.

Heat 28 Maiden 4YO & Up 1000 metres (4 lengths, 3 lengths 1:20.4)

Aquilo (5 g Frankel - Stormy Lucy) - Joe Kamaruddin; got back last, five lengths at the 600m, and dipped and dived in the straight when unable to quicken in heavy ground.
