Te Akau Avondale Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses (pictured below) on Tuesday June 16 at Avondale - the footing was rated Heavy10, with the rail out fourteen metres.

Heat 2 Open 1000 metres (neck, ¾ lengths 1:03.7)

Prince Henry (3 g Henrythenavigator - Ocean of Tears) - Cameron Lammas; jumped away well to trail and after being tightened behind runners he hit the line solidly under his own steam for fourth, to the much higher rated galloper Barbaric.

Heat 8 2YO 800 metres (3 lengths, ½ a length 49.4)

2 g Pins - Regal Ash - Ed Zac-Syed; jumped away well to settle in fourth on the outer and took an inside run in the straight to finish strongly into second.

Heat 9 2YO 800 metres (4 lengths, 6 lengths 50.0)

2 f Choisir - Shopping Spree - Ed Zac-Syed; began nicely to settle off the first two in third and kept putting to be doing her best work through the line in third.

Heat 26 Maiden 1000 metres (¾ lengths, ¾ lengths 1:05.4)

Bettorock (3 f Fastnet Rock - Astounded) - Cameron Lammas; received a nice run in transit after beginning well, but never really coped with the sticky track conditions and would have preferred it looser.

Heat 27 Maiden 1000 metres (½ head, 1 ½ lengths 1:04.9)

Bon Marche (3 g Nom Du Jeu - Las Vegas Lass) - Cameron Lammas; jumped away well to settle in behind the pace and drawn wide for better going in the straight he then came home strongly for a close second.
