Te Akau Avondale Trials' Review

Te Akau trialled horses on Tuesday Feb. 4 at Avondale.
The footing was rated Dead5, with the rail out 14 metres

Heat 2 Open 1000 metres (3 lengths, ½ a length 59.4)
Angelica Hall (3 f Guillotine - Greta Hall) - Matt Cameron (below); settled last, relaxed well, kept a nice head carriage, and weaving into the clear she made up good ground to finish third.

Heat 3 2YO 800 metres (1 length, 1 ¼ 47.1)
Darci's Dream (2 f Darci Brahma - Sweet Dreams Baby) - Matt Cameron (below); bounced away to travel on pace and kept up a good gallop to the line, winning nicely.

Heat 8 2YO 800 metres (1 ½ lengths, head 47.3)
2 g Tale of the Cat - Quatro - Matt Cameron; was a touch void of pace off a wide gate, dropping in midfield, and with the blinkers on he ran home into fourth.

Heat 9 2YO 800 metres (½ head, 4 lengths 47.2)
2 g Stratum - Lazaan - Matt Cameron; showed gate speed to travel handily and came clear in a duel with the eventual winner. It was a lovely trial and he flattened out to hit the line nicely.

Heat 10 2YO 800 metres (head, 3 ½ lengths 47.1)
2 g Savabeel - Fire Song - Matt Cameron (below; having his first trial, jumped away nicely from the inside gate and sat third in running. He ranged up at the 300 metres and showed good determination to win.

Heat 11 2YO 800 metres (3 ½ lengths, ½ a length 48.6)
2 f Saperavi - Encosta Lotta - Matt Cameron; jumped away on terms to position in third and left a little bit flat-footed when the pace quickened entering the straight she stuck on well for fourth.

Heat 14 2YO 1000 metres (1 ½ lengths, ½ length 1:00.9)
Secret Spice (2 f Sakhee's Secret - Caparison) - Matt Cameron; jumped away to sit a length off the leader and held her ground in finishing third.
