Te Akau Avondale Trials' Update

Avondale trials, Tuesday 11 April 2023 

Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: out 13 metres.

Heat 3 Open 1000 metres (1 ¼ lengths, head 1:03.0)

Stella Splendida (3 f Zoustar - Scintillula) - Michael McNab; she travelled fourth with cover at the 600m, clear on straightening, she was held together in photo-finish for second. 

Ragamuffin (4 g Belardo - Short Tale) - Warren Kennedy; he began well from barrier one, slipped into the trail at the 800m, and was held together running on solidly for a close fourth. 

Heat 4 Open 1000 metres (head, 1 ¼ lengths 1:02.5)

Kabugee (3 g Satono Aladdin - Kabuki) - Michael McNab; he settled three back on the inner, however was without much room in the straight and remained untouched behind runners. 

Heat 5 Open 1000 metres (¾ lengths, ¾ lengths 1:01.6)

Prismatic (4 g Savabeel - Kaleidoscope) - Warren Kennedy; he travelled in the clear mid inner, was six lengths off at the 600m, and held his  spot nicely over the sprint trip for fourth. 

Heat 6 Open 1000 metres (½ length, head 1:03.8)

Baronet (3 g Contributer - Alpha Dame) - Warren Kennedy; he began well to lead, was shadowed in front but led again at the 200m and kept up a strong gallop to win. 

Bubbles Await (3 g Almanzor - Champagne Katie) - Craig Grylls; he got back last, was six lengths off at the 600m and improved widest into the straight but remained back. 

Heat 13 2YO 800 metres (head, neck 46.6)

Tranquila (2 f Iffraaj - Equanimity) - Warren Kennedy; she trailed fifth from barrier one and was not pressured tracking home nicely for fourth. 

Heat 18 2YO 1000 metres (1 ¼ lengths, neck 1:03.5)

Court of Appeal (2 f Eminent - Katie O'Beel) - Michael McNab; she began well from barrier one to lead, was joined at the 800m, had an advantage on straightening and kept going well for fourth. 

Heat 19 2YO 1000 metres (1 ¾ lengths, ¾ lengths 1:02.6)

El Viento (2 g El Roca - Mandeville) - Michael McNab; he went forward outside the leader and kept up a good gallop for third. 

Heat 20 2YO 1000 metres (½ length, 3 ¼ lengths 1:04.0)

Paper Romance (2 g El Roca - Optimiser) - Michael McNab; he was rear on the inner, seven lengths off at the 600m, was last into straight and remained back. 

Heat 21 2YO 1000 metres (2 ¼ lengths, 2 ¾ lengths 1:03.0)

Star of Justice (2 f Justify - Fair Isle) - Michael McNab; she began well to co-lead on the outer on competitive speed, took the advantage at the turn, ran out but kept going strongly to win. 

Heat 22 2YO 1000 metres (head, 3 ¾ lengths 1:02.9)

War of Succession (2 c Tavistock - Ziffel) - Michael McNab; he began well to the chase leaders in third, but lost action at the 200m as a future distance horse and was easy thereafter. 

Heat 25 2YO 1000 metres (neck, ¾ lengths 1:02.9)

Ascend the Throne (2 c Savabeel - Thee Achiever) - Michael McNab; he began well to the track leaders in third, ranged three wide at the turn and kept up a strong gallop for a close second without any pressure.

Heat 26 2YO 1000 metres (neck, long neck 1:04.3)

Autocracy (2 c Savabeel - Bingo) - Michael McNab; he received an economical trip on the inner, was camped turning for home, went clear path the 200m and finished solidly for third.
