Te Akau Avondale Wednesday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Wednesday 6 November at Avondale.

Weather: fine, track: Dead4, rail: out 7 metres. No rain forecast.

1.30 p.m. R2 5 Enrichment  (3 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Enhance) - Opie Bosson; registered a fourth and second, respectively, in two starts as a two-year-old, and finished strongly for third when trialling on 23 October at Te Teko. Although looking the type to go further, drawn barrier one fresh-up in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres is ideal.  A win would be an appropriate gift today for co-owner and breeder Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM who celebrates her birthday.

1.30 p.m. R2 10 Reiko  (3 f Reliable Man - Lady Eiko) - Matt Cameron; quickened well while drawing clear with a rival (second) when trialling on 23 October at Te Teko, and debuts from barrier four in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. From the family of impressive winner November Rain (Stravinsky), her dam, Lady Eiko (Stravinsky), won two races to 1600 metres.

2.05 p.m. R3 8 Combat Queen (3 f Pierro - Missy Cummings) - Michael McNab; finished third when trialling on 23 October at Te Teko, and debuts from barrier eight in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO Fillies 1200 metres. By Pierro (Lonhro), Champion First & Second Season Sire in Australia, with top winners from 1100m to 2500m, from a stakes winning mare by Magnus (Flying Spur), a hardy Group One winning sprinter.

2.05 p.m. R3 12 Star of Bombay (3 f Atlante - Astardia) - Opie Bosson; came from last with strong finish for third when trialling on 23 October at Te Teko, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO Fillies 1200 metres. The first foal of a Starcraft (Soviet Star) mare that won over 1600 metres, barrier one aids her prospects.
