Te Akau Avondale Wednesday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has 10 horses racing on Wednesday 4 November at Avondale.

Weather: overcast, track: Dead5, rail: true. Showers forecast.

12.29 p.m. R2 9 Shebringsmerubies (5 m Sebring - Run
Away Ruby) - Samantha Collett; ran on without threatening for sixth in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 21
October at Matamata, and steps up in the $10,000 Rating 65 2100 metres. Drawing the outside (11) makes
it awkward, but a consistent mare and should go well if appreciative of the trip.

1.40 p.m. R4 2 Laureate (4 g Snitzel - Floria) - Craig Grylls; ended his previous campaign in solid
form and following two preparatory trials he resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 1200
metres. Bred to be good, he requires luck from a wide draw (12).

1.40 p.m. R4 4 Lightning Field (4 g Deep Field - Claudine) - Opie Bosson; raced
once as a three-year-old, finishing fourth over 1200 metres, and following two
seconds at the trials he resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. He appears capable of a solid
effort from barrier seven.

2.15 p.m. R5 7 Kathies Choice (4 m Redoute's Choice -
Everswindell) - Opie Bosson; flushed wide rounding the home turn before
unwinding for third on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 14 October at
Tauranga, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. She shapes as a top
three chance with luck from barrier 16.

2.15 p.m. R5 15 Vitani (3 f Pins - Queen of Lions) - Craig Grylls; ran home
solidly for seventh when debuting in the Maiden 1200 metres on 14
October at Tauranga, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. Awkwardly
drawn (10), but she shapes to keep improving with blinkers on.

2.50 p.m. R6 5 Entriviere (4 m Tavistock - Marcey's Belt) - Samantha Collett; made it two from two when streaking clear inside the 200m on 14 October in the Rating 65 1300 metres at Tauranga, running the fastest last 600m (34.2) on the day. Although yet another awkwardly drawn (11) in the $11,000 Rating 74 1400 metres, she looks tough to beat.

3.25 p.m. R7 10 Feelin' Fancy (4 m Rip Van Winkle -
Frivolous) - Opie Bosson; received a good trip when finishing fourth to
stable-mate Mai Tai (Atlante) when debuting in the Pearl Series 1200 metres on
14 October at Tauranga. She receives a chance to improve further from a handy
draw (5) in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres.

3.25 p.m. R7 12 Spirit of Gold (4 m Medaglia d'Oro -
Full of Spirit) - Craig
Grylls; won a trial in September at Rotorua, finished third without pressure
here on 15 October, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. From
impressive race mare Full of Spirit (Flying Spur), a winner in both NZ and
Australia, who highlighted her career winning the Adrian Knox Stakes (Gr. 3,
2000m) at Randwick, she requires luck from a wide draw (13).

4.39 p.m. R9 4 When In Paris (4 m Pierro - Bulle De Champagne) - Opie Bosson; finished third fresh-up in the Maiden 1400 metres on 23 September at Matamata, before a ride best forgotten in the Maiden 1600 metres on 14 October at Tauranga. In the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1600 metres (eligible $11,500 bonus), she requires luck from an awkward draw (11).

5.14 p.m. R10 5 Golden Age (5 g Savabeel - La Belle
Epoque) - Opie Bosson; has trialled well for second and third, respectively,
most recently here on 15 October and resumes in the $10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres.
He bolted in fresh-up over 1600 metres last September at Riccarton, and ideally
drawn (1) to kick off with a strong performance.
