Te Akau Awapuni Anzac Day Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Sunday 25 April at Awapuni.

Weather: fine, track: Slow8, rail: out 2 metres from 800m - 300m, remainder true. Showers forecast.

2.16 p.m. R3 5 Duby (4 m Ocean Park - Lost in Dubai) - Johnathan Parkes; finished second twice from four starts in her first campaign, including runner-up to Group Three winner and Group One placed stable-mate Cornflower Blue (Savabeel). She sustained a good finish for third when trialling on 6 April at Ellerslie, and should race well if appreciative of conditions in the $10,000 Maiden 1300 metres.

3.46 p.m. R6 4 Shebringsmerubies (5 m Sebring - Run Away Ruby) - Johnathan Parkes; was dominant winning the Rating 65 1600 metres on 17 March at Matamata, and back in class after racing outside the leader on 3 April in the ($22,500) Rating 65 2100 metres at Ellerslie. She requires luck from a wide draw (13) in the $10,000 Rating 65 2100 metres, but should go well if appreciative of the course at her first attempt.

4.16 p.m. R7 12 Mai Tai (4 m Atlante - Tropical Punch) - Samantha Collett; was unlucky when fifth in the Rating 74 1200 metres on Derby Day (7 March), and impressive winning the Rating 74 1400 metres on 3 April at Ellerslie. A mare that has continued to improve, winning four from nine, she carries minimum weight (53kg) and rates a top three chance in the $50,000 Manawatu ITM Anzac Mile (Listed, 1550m). Fixed odds: $2.70 & $1.45.
