Te Akau Awapuni Friday Preview
5 April, 2019
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Friday 5 April at Awapuni.
As on Thursday 4 April the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 2.5 metres. No rain forecast.
1.02 p.m. R2 8 Dundeel's Girl(3 f Dundeel - Mirovaya) - Craig Grylls; sustained a gritty gallop for third off a wide run at the trials on 19 March at Matamata, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. From the first crop of Dundeel, the sire of stable-mate Yourdeel that won the Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) here last Saturday, she has a classy pedigree and should race well from barrier one.
2.12 p.m. R4 4 She's Not Bad(4 m He's Remarkable - Andra) - Craig Grylls; was freshened after winning the Rating 72 1400 metres on 20 January at Te Rapa, and resumes in the $25,000 Rating 72 1200 metres. An impressive winner over 1300 metres in November at Hastings, she is a talented mare, can act fresh, and rates a top three chance from barrier two.
2.47 p.m. R5 6 Rock Idol(4 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Edesia) - Craig Grylls; won the Maiden 1400 metres by three and a half lengths on 21 February at Wairoa, with Grylls aboard, and given time (40 days) since meeting a tougher field three days later in the Rating 65 1300 metres. He pressed forward when winning and despite drawing wide (14) may look to take a handy position in the $22,500 Rating 65 1400 metres.
4.33 p.m. R8 10 Full of Grace(4 g O'Reilly - Tuesday's Child) - Craig Grylls; produced a strong winning performance in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 17 February at Gisborne, with Grylls aboard, and freshened after being caught wide in the Rating 72 1500 metres, won by stable-mate Griffin (Iffraaj), a week later at Wairoa. Meeting a capacity field in the $25,000 Rating 72 1600 metres, the right trip from barrier six should see him quite competitive.
