Te Akau Awapuni Friday Preview

Te Akau Racing has six horses entered on Friday 16 June at Awapuni.

Weather: fine, track: poly-track, rail: true.

11:47 a.m. R1 1 Navalha (5 g Sebring - Afiado) - Niranjan Parmar (a2); he remained beyond midfield in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 6 May at Te Rapa, and contests the $14,000 Rating 65 1400 metres. He has weight relief to 57.5kg, has trialled solidly on poly-track, and is capable of improvement.

12:19 p.m. R2 8 Redsheis (3 f Burgundy - Show No Emotion) - Niranjan Parmar (2); she closed late for fourth in the Maiden 3YO 1300 metres on 17 May, and was third off an economical trip in the Maiden 1550 metres on 31 May, both on poly-track at Cambridge. She is also racing solidly, enjoys weight relief to 54.5kg, but does require luck from barrier 10 in the $14,000 Maiden 1200 metres.

12:54 p.m. R3 2 Stonybreck (3 g Tavistock - Fair Isle) - Niranjan Parmar (2); he closed nicely for third without much room in a trial on 26 May at Waipa, and resumes in the $14,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. He held the course record for a time with his debut win over 970 metres on poly-track at Cambridge, has the added value of weight relief to 54.5kg, and rates a top three chance fresh-up from barrier one.

1:25 p.m. R4 5 Rightly So (3 f El Roca - So It Begins) - Niranjan Parmar (2); she worked hard and fought well for a close third in the Maiden 1300 metres on 31 May at Cambridge (poly-track), and contests the $14,000 Maiden 1000 metres. A model of consistency, she has placed six times from eight starts, has weight relief to 54.5kg, and looks a top three prospect.

2:04 p.m. R5 11 Treaty of Paris (3 g Tavistock - Echezeaux) - Niranjan Parmar (2); he finished second after racing outside the leader in the Maiden 2000 metres on 31 May at Cambridge (poly-track), and contests the $14,000 Maiden 2140 metres. He has been racing solidly, has the benefit of weight relief to 56.5kg, and rates a top three chance.

3:14 p.m. R7 11 Star In The Sky (3 f Savabeel - Pikari Star) - Niranjan Parmar (2); she finished a close sixth in the Maiden 2000 metres on 31 May at Cambridge (poly-track), and contests the $14,000 Maiden 1700 metres. While she has weight relief to 54.5kg, she has once again copped a wide draw and requires luck from the outside gate (12).
