Te Akau Racing has five horses entered on Friday 4 March at Awapuni.
Weather: fine, track: Dead4, rail: out 4 metres 400m - 900m, remainder out 6 metres (Inside bend). No rain forecast.
12:22 p.m. R1 3 Wisdom Wonder (2 g Charm Spirit - Sehaab)- Joe Kamaruddin (a1); quickened well for a close second at the trials on 14 February at Te Rapa, and debuts in the $12,000 Maiden 2YO 1200 metres. He has recorded two seconds and a third at the trials, his dam Sehaab (Dream Ahead) won over 1000 metres in Australia, and he has the pace to race handily.
12:57 p.m. R2 6 Ange De Reve (3 f Belardo - Awakening) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); proved too good when debuting in a Maiden 1100 metres on 19 January and was game after being caught wide on a Slow7 track in a Special Conditions 1200 metres on 12 February, both at Te Rapa. She rates a top three chance in the $12,000 3YO 1200 metres, drawn barrier three.
1:32 p.m. R3 2 Charmander (3 g Shooting to Win - Moment of Choice) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); ran good 600m times (34.5 and 34.4) for third and fifth, respectively, in first his two starts. He was then freshened, and kept up a strong gallop to win at the trials on 14 February at Te Rapa. From a versatile family, he rates a top three prospect resuming in the $12,000 Maiden 1200 metres.
2:07 p.m. R4 4 Nossenko (3 f Savabeel - Vera de Bosset) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); won a Maiden 1400 metres on 27 January and was a notable fourth in a Rating 65 1600 metres to subsequent Lowland Stakes (Gr. 2, 2100m) runner-up One Dream One Soul (Ekraar), both at Hastings. Ideally drawn (3) in the $12,000 Rating 65 1550 metres, she is a top three contender.
3:18 p.m. R6 6 Savasilk (3 f Savabeel - Silk Pins) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); found one better when she finished second to impressive winner Glory Bound (Tavistock) in a Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on 12 January at Matamata, and strode clear with real purpose to win a Maiden Fillies & Mares 1400 metres on 9 February at Ruakaka, collecting $11,500 NZB Pearl Series Bonus in the process. She is ideally drawn (3) in the $12,000 Rating 65 1400 metres, and has first three claims.
