Te Akau Blenheim Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race programme on Friday 29 April at Blenheim.

As on Thursday 28 April the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. No rain forecast.

12.30 p.m. R1 7 Affinee (3 f Exceed and Excel - Household) - Lisa Allpress; displayed good gate speed in winning an 800-metre trial off the front at Avondale, and makes her debut from barrier two in the Maiden 1000 metres. Although tricky to assess the form, with a mixture of horses from around the country, she rates highly on her trial performance and with this rider engaged.

2.20 p.m. R4 11 Our Drahma Queen (4 m Darci Brahma - Queen Cha Cha) - Lisa Allpress; trialled over 1000 metres at Avondale, in preparation to resume off 124 days in the Rating 65 1400 metres. She produced a solid effort for third in this grade after a good maiden win over 1400 metres and should prove competitive from barrier one.

4.38 p.m. R8 1 Hushed (5 g Don Eduardo - Danewhisper) - Lisa Allpress; had no joy resuming in the Rating 65 1580 metres at Waipa, when clipping heels to dislodge apprentice Hanafi Noorman in his first race day ride. That behind him, he has finished second over 1800m, won his maiden at 2000m, and the Rating 65 1950 metres should be right up his alley.
