Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: true. 2mls rain forecast Christmas Day and 12mls Boxing Day.

12:58 p.m. R2 6 Belle Du Monde (2 f Zoustar – Lady Cartier) – Blake Shinn; she received an economical trip on the inner when on debut, finishing second in the 2YO 1100 metres here on 26 October, has been given time since, and quickened to score stylishly in a trial on 17 December at Pukekohe. Resuming in the $80,000 2YO 1100 metres, she is from a classy family of stakes’ winners, and she rates a top three chance from barrier five with the top Victorian jockey in the saddle. Fixed odds: $2.60 & $1.30.

3:58 p.m. R7 11 Damask Rose (3 f Savabeel – Sombreuil) – Blake Shinn; she displayed her class when drawing clear to win fresh-up in the 3YO 1200 metres on 14 December at Te Rapa, and contests the $270,000 Group 2 Shaw’s Wire Ropes Auckland Guineas (1400m). She followed her debut win with a great effort for second in the Karaka Millions 2YO here last season, and is a definite top three prospect if she can overcome the widest gate (11). Fixed odds: $2.35 & $1.25.

5:09 p.m. R9 9 Campionessa (7 m Contributer – Bella Carolina) – Blake Shinn; she raced well for second in the Group 2 Cal Izusu Stakes over 1600m on 14 December at Te Rapa, won by race rival Snazzytavi, and defends her title in the $500,000 Group 1 Cambridge Stud Zabeel Classic (2050m). She possesses an excellent course/distance record, however she does meet a smart field, but is ideally drawn (6) to present as a top three chance. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.15.

5:47 p.m. R10 2 El Viento (4 g El Roca – Mandeville) – Opie Bosson; he ran the fastest last 600m (33.4) for fourth in the Open Handicap 1400 metres on 7 December at Trentham, and drops in grade for the $110,000 Stella Artois 1500 Championship Final (Special Conditions, 1500m). He has recorded three wins to 1600 metres, and while he has drawn touch awkwardly (8) he does have the ability to match his rivals if appreciative of course at his first attempt on the strathayr - the first of two in the event for the team. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.25.

5:47 p.m. R10 9 Francee (5 m Iffraaj – Calveen) – Blake Shinn; she ran the fastest last 600m (34.8) when finishing strongly from well back for second in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 16 November at Tauranga, and was unfortunately squeezed out of contention with more to offer in the Rating 75 1400 metres here on 7 December. Also contesting the $110,000 Stella Artois 1500 Championship Final, she meets a solid field but has the ability to prove competitive if she can secure luck in the running from her wide draw (15).
