Te Akau 2015 Breeding Syndicate Update

In late May we had a very special gathering at Te Akau Stud. The owners involved in our 2015 Te Akau Breeding Syndicate were invited to join David and Karyn at the farm to inspect the their three stunning yearlings and toast their future success on the racetrack.

Our sale topping Fastnet Rock filly out of Champion 2YO Il Quello Veloce - now named Il Piu Veloce ('the fastest'), our Fastnet Rock colt out of Myrrh (the half brother to Triple Honour now named Military Cross) and our Snitzel/Mini Tales colt (now named Epic Tale) - each strode over the ground impressively, looking exciting athletes in the making.

Although quite a number of owners were overseas on holiday or working, those who were able to attend had a wonderful time. Getting up close and personal with their filly and two colts, they were also able to see them being ridden by our head breaker James Jackson on the last day at the farm before they joined Te Akau's Matamata stable for the first time. There they will take the next steps of their early education - learning the regime of daily stable life, going to the track each day, swimming in the pool and learning barrier technique - loading, standing and jumping out.

Currently the trio is taking these next steps under the guidance of our Te Akau trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards and after this, they will return back to Te Akau Stud for a well earned break!

As you can see, although the day was nippy - the setting in our huge big "airstrip" paddock was fabulous - our young horses just love working there.
