Te Akau Cambridge Midweek Preview
Date: 17 Sep 2024
Te Akau Racing has seven horses entered on Wednesday 18 September at Cambridge.
Cambridge:
Weather: cloudy, track: poly track, rail: true.
1.07 p.m. R2 1 Stonybreck (5 g Tavistock – Fair Isle) – Rihaan Goyaram (a4); he recorded his fifth poly-track victory in the Rating 75 1300 metres here on 28 August, and remains in same grade for the $18,500 Rating 75 1550 metres. One of two in the event for the stable, he is a dual course/distance winner, has weight relief to 58.5kg, and rates a top three chance from barrier five. Fixed odds: $1.70 & $1.05.
1.07 p.m. R2 3 Beau Brummell (4 g Embellish – Fashion Forward) – Darren Danis; he kept going solidly for fourth in a trial here on 3 September, and resumes in the $18,500 Rating 75 1550 metres. He ended his previous campaign winning the 3YO 1600 metres in April at Timaru, following a notable fourth in the Listed Southland Guineas (1600m). While he has shown to ahem the ability to perform well fresh, this is his first race start on poly-track but he still can feature in the finish. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $1.60.
2:17 p.m. R4 3 Rule Of Law (4 g Justify – Repeat) – Wiremu Pinn; he was held together while sustaining a good gallop for second in a trial here on 3 September, and resumes in the $18,500 Rating 65 1300 metres. He is deally drawn (4) to lead or race handily, and has opportunity to kick off his new preparation with a solid performance. Fixed odds: $2.70 & $1.30.
2:52 p.m. R5 8 Puzzle Master (3 g Rubick – One Mansini) – Vinnie Colgan; he quickened well to grab the win in a trial here on 3 September, and debuts in the $18,500 Maiden 970 metres. He is aided by the handy draw (4) and any similar effort to his trial run would see him well positioned in the top four here - one of two in the event for the stable. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $1.60.
2:52 p.m. R5 9 Cantatrice (3 f Microphone – Arabian Gift) – Wiremu Pinn; she sat outside the leader and quickened clear without urging to stylishly win a trial here on 3 September. Debuting in the $18,500 Maiden 970 metres, she coped admirably with synthetic surface when winning her trial, the blinkers are on, and she positions herself as a top three chance. Fixed odds: $1.80 & $1.10.
3:29 p.m. R6 3 Legally Binding (3 g Exceedance – Legal Eagle) – Wiremu Pinn; he raced away in the straight to win in eye-catching fashion when trialling here on 3 September, and resumes in the $18,500 Maiden 3YO 970 metres. The first of two in this race for the team, he is ideally drawn (2) to be a viable top three chance. Fixed odds: $2.30 & $1.20.
3:29 p.m. R6 5 By Her Rules (3 f Kermadec – Empress Cixi) – Vinnie Colgan; she ran home strongly in the straight for fourth when trialling here on 3 September, and debuts in the $18,500 Maiden 3YO 970 metres. Handily drawn (4), any emulation of that trial performance would see her feature strongly in the finish. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $1.90.
