1:30 p.m. R3 1 Colonel Warden (4 g Russian Revolution – Moralto) – Hayley Hassman (a2); he bore the brunt of a wide trip in the Rating 72 1300 metres on 2 May at Te Rapa, and drops in grade for the $17,000 Rating 65 1300 metres. He’s formed a good record of two wins, a third and a fourth on synthetic surfaces, has the benefit of weight relief to 58kg, and ideally drawn (5) to show improvement - one of two in the event for the team. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.20.
1:30 p.m. R3 9 Shiatsu (4 m Swiss Ace – Perform A Miracle) – Samantha Collett; she understandably tired after racing wide on a genuine pace in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 1 May at Pukekohe, and also contests the Rating 65 1300 metres. A course/distance winner on debut, she likewise finds an opportunity to improve if she secures a decent trip from barrier eight. Fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.10.
2:44 p.m. R5 2 Brazen Affair (4 m Brazen Beau – Southern Romance) – Hayley Hassman (a2); she remained back from an outside draw (11) in the Rating 75 1100 metres on 6 May at Ellerslie, and takes on the $17,000 Rating 76 970 metres. She ended her previous campaign with three wins and three seconds from six starts here on poly-track at Cambridge, so has fashioned a very good record on the track. She has the plus of weight relief to 55.5kg, but has frustratingly drawn the outside gate (9) which isn’t ideal. She will nonetheless give a good sight, the capable and genuine mare she is. Fixed odds: $2.60 & $1.35.
4:30 p.m. R8 12 Naughty Grannie (3 f Embellish – Tad Infinitum) – Hayley Hassman (a2); she was unable to quicken after racing handily in the Maiden 1600 metres on 1 May at Pukekohe, and contests the $17,000 Maiden 2000 metres. With weight relief to 54.5kg, this is a good chance for her to put her hand up if she appreciates the poly-track surface and the extra distance. Fixed odds: $4.50 & $1.85.
