Te Akau Cambridge Saturday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Saturday 24 June at Cambridge.

Weather: overcast, track: poly-track, rail: true.

12:05 p.m. R1 6 Prefer To Play (3 g Preferment - Play Me) - Warren Kennedy; he travelled widest from an outside gate (10) and fought well on Heavy10 going for fourth in the Maiden 1400 metres on 7 June at Matamata. Contesting the $15,000 Maiden 1550 metres, much will depend on his appreciation of the poly-track at his first attempt.

2:32 p.m. R5 2 Freeze Frame (3 g Vadamos - Snow Petal) - Michael McNab; he drew clear to easily win the Rating 65 1200 metres on 3 June at Avondale, and contests the $30,000 3YO 1300 metres. A very consistent individual, having won twice and finishing third or better in seven of eight starts, he trialled well for second here as a two-year-old and rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $3.80 & $1.70.

3:07 p.m. R6 3 Kai (4 m Ocean Park - Brilliant Blush) - Jess Allen (a4); she chased down the leader to win the Rating 75 1200 metres on 20 May at Pukekohe, before posting a notable fourth in the Rating 75 1300 metres on 10 June at Awapuni. Another very consistent type, winning three and finishing third or better in 13 of 16 starts, she looked good winning two trials here as a three-year-old, enjoys has weight relief to 52.5kg and looks a top three contender in the $30,000 Rating 75 1300 metres.
