Te Akau Cambridge Thursday Preview

Te Akau Racing has six horses entered on Thursday 2 September at Cambridge (synthetic).

Weather: fine, track: poly-track, rail: true. No rain forecast.

1.38 p.m. R5 4 Flat Track Bully (4 g Reliable Man - Lime Squeeze) - Joe Kamaruddin (a3); was good through the line when winning and finishing second, respectively, here at the trials and debuts in the $12,000 Maiden 1300 metres. Weight relief to 56.5kg assists, but he requires luck from barrier 13.

2.12 p.m. R6 4 Rip Van Gogh  (4 g Rip Van Winkle - On the Move) - Joe Kamaruddin (a3); looked good finishing third and fifth, respectively, when trialling here and resumes in the $12,000 Maiden 1300 metres. A trial winner and who was race placed in December, he has shown to act fresh and has weight relief to 56.5kg, and ideally drawn (4) to rate a top four chance.

2.12 p.m. R6 8 La Flora Belle  (4 m Iffraaj - Tsarina Belle) - Michael McNab; lifted to win stylishly when trialling here on 5 August and resumes in the $12,000 Maiden 1300 metres. A three-quarter sister to former stable-mate and dual Horse of the Year Melody Belle (Commands), winner of 14 Group 1 races, she is destined for more distance but should be finding the line strongly.

2.47 p.m. R7 3 Sophisticardo (3 g Burgundy - Glamorous Girl) - Joe Kamaruddin (a3); won stylishly on debut before a notable fourth to stable-mate On the Bubbles (Brazen Beau) in the Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m). He was full of running when winning at the trials here on 5 August, weight relief to 56.5kg, and rates a top three chance in the $12,000 Rating 65 970 metres.

4.23 p.m. R10 4 Irish Red  (3 f Burgundy - Niamh Elizabeth) - Joe Kamaruddin (a3); won well here in the first of two preparatory trials and resumes in the $12,000 Maiden 3YO 970 metres. Eye-catching when placed in both two-year-old starts, she has weight relief to 56.5kg and rates a top three chance from barrier five.

4.23 p.m. R10 8 Shepherd's Delight (3 f Rip Van Winkle - Safari Sunset) - Michael McNab; looked promising with two wins and second at the trials, quickening into second here on 5 August, and debuts in the $12,000 Maiden 3YO 970 metres. She should race well with the right trip from barrier eight.
