Te Akau: Cambridge Trial Review

Plenty of eye catching efforts at today's Cambridge trials from the Te Akau team of horses.

Our Te Akau trialled horses on Thursday April 11 at Cambridge.

The footing was rated Dead4, with the rail out 2 metres.

Heat 5 2YO 800 metres (¾ lengths, ½ head 47.9?)

2 g Saperavi - Sweet Dreams Baby - Matt Cameron; was caught wide throughout in midfield, flushed very wide on the home turn and ran home solidly after a tough trip.

Heat 8 2YO 800 metres (1 length, 1 ¼ lengths 47.2)

2 f Henrythenavigator - Chasing Mammon - Matt Cameron; settled back from a wide draw and ran on well without a lot of room in the straight.

Heat 9 2YO 800 metres (½ length, 1 ¼ lengths 46.3)

2 f Volksraad - Rapida - Matt Cameron; was a touch tardy to begin before settling fourth, four lengths from the leader, on a quick pace, and ran on nicely in staying fashion, displaying a lovely action, for fifth.

Heat 12 2YO 800 metres (½ head, 4 lengths 47.3)

Osmunda (2 f O'Reilly - Wyndam Special) - Matt Cameron; got well back on a solid tempo and made good ground from the 400 metres, showing a good action, to finish fifth.

Heat 13 2YO 800 metres (1 length, 3 lengths 47.1)

Spellbinder (2 f O'Reilly - Scenic Sprint) - Matt Cameron; showed good pace to lead, travelled kindly, two-length advantage turn, kept up a strong gallop, showing good attributes to win comprehensively.

Heat 15 Maiden 800 metres (1 ½ lengths, 1 ½ lengths 46.0)

Show No Emotion (3 f Pins - Lynisky) - Shane Dye; settled sixth on the inner and ran home solidly along the rail, under a hold, for sixth.

Heat 19 2YO 950 metres (½ head, 2 ½ lengths 58.1)

Wolfwhistle (2 c O'Reilly - Legs) - Matt Cameron; trucked along three wide with cover in sixth and clear to challenge entering the straight he quickened up nicely to collar the leader on the line.
Heat 22 Open 950 metres (½ head, ½ a length 56.9)

Urban Angel (4 m Savabeel - Tutuland) - Daniel Miller; improved on the inner from back in the field to a challenging position behind the leader mid-straight and went to the line held in third, as a gap tightened against the rail.


Goyescas
 (4 m Encosta De Lago - Larrocha) - Shane Dye; was slowly away, travelled up nicely from the 600 metres and ran home solidly without being asked to extend.


Prospero 
(5 g High Chaparral - Alfred's Jewel) - Matt Cameron; was allowed to drop rearward, being a staying horse, and he galloped out nicely post the line.

Heat 23 Open 950 metres (½ a length, 1 length 57.5)

Imperial Miss (4 m Shinko King - Nanset) - Matt Cameron; travelled nicely held three wide near the pace and let down beautifully without much urging to win very well.


Thrive
 (5 m Colombia - Trove) - Daniel Miller; camped nicely one off the fence in fifth, received a timely split on straightening and ran on solidly in a top trial performance for fourth.

Heat 24 Maiden 950 metres (½ head, 2 lengths 57.5)

Clos De Tart (3 f Darci Brahma - Rapid Kay) - Daniel Miller; camped beautifully in third with cover behind the two leaders, quickened under her own steam when balanced up in the straight to grab the leader on the line in what was a textbook trial.
Heat 25 Maiden 950 metres (1 length, ¾ lengths 57.8)

O'Darci (3 g Darci Brahma - O'Sequita) - Matt Cameron; was easy through the early stages, improved with cover from the 600 metres, circled widest from the 400 metres and sustained a big finish for second.
Heat 26 Maiden 950 metres (½ a length, long head 57.3)

3 f High Chaparral - Landara - Shane Dye; improved steadily from the rear, along the rail, received plenty of room on straightening and hit the line strongly for second.
Heat 27 Maiden 950 metres (2 ½ lengths, 2 ¾ lengths 57.4)

Cajero (3 g Encosta De Lago - Cashier) - Daniel Miller; positioned handy on the inner, steadied off heels at the 600 metres, clear on straightening and ran home solidly against the rail for third.
