Te Akau Cambridge Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses on Tuesday Dec. 10 at Cambridge.
The footing was rated Dead5, with the rail out 3 metres.
Heat 2 2YO 650 metres (head, ¾ lengths 40.5)
2 f Saperavi - Zorina - Matt Cameron; travelled handily on the outer and in front on straightening she kept giving in determined fashion to win.
Heat 15 Open 950 metres (neck, head 57.5)
Fast Fiction (4 g Fastnet Rock - Paperback) - Matt Cameron; jumped away well but then eased to the rear and never really hit out on the going.
Heat 16 Open 950 metres (long head, head 57.7)
Alchemy's Flight (3 f Darci Brahma - Eloa) - Matt Cameron (below); began smartly to lead on the bridle. She was allowed to coast along in front and after finding a couple of lengths on straightening she galloped out under her own steam for a nice trial win.
Sir Darci (3 g Darci Brahma - Dominant) - Leith Innes; travelled easily in sixth, he quickened up wide on the track turning for home and was held together running home solidly for fifth.
Heat 19 Maiden 950 metres (1 ¼ lengths, 2 lengths 57.4)
Pride and Passion (5 m Encosta De Lago - Calaway Gal) - Matt Cameron (below); settled fifth in running, she ranged to third rounding the home turn, quickened up to lead at the 200 metres and galloped out to win well.
Heat 23 Open 1200 metres (½ a length, 2 ¼ lengths 1:12.1)
Chambord (3 g Zabeel - Miss Montjeu) - Opie Bosson (below); travelled keenly in fifth, improved to camp on the leaders turning in and ran home nicely for fourth.
King's Rock (3 c Fastnet Rock - Nureyev's Girl) - Matt Cameron (below); was beaten for pace early on and stood the leader ten lengths passing the 600m. Although finishing back in the field he worked home with a nice action.
Heat 24 Open 1200 metres (1 ¾ lengths, ½ a length 1:14.5)
Costa Viva (3 f Encosta De Lago - Vivacious Spirit) - Matt Cameron (below); settled fifth on a slow pace, ranged into the clear on straightening and proved too classy getting clear with a smart turn of foot.
All Decked Out (3 c Darci Brahma - Diamond Deck) - Opie Bosson; camped behind the leaders in fourth at the 600 metres and once balanced up in the straight he worked home nicely for second.
Heat 27 Maiden 1200 metres (10 lengths, 1 length 1:13.09)
Seline (3 f Pentire - Dion) - Matt Cameron (below); settled nicely in sixth, she improved between runners inside the 600 metres, ranged to third on the home turn and finished solidly for second.
Heat 28 Maiden 1200 metres (1 ¾ lengths, ¾ lengths 1:14.1)
Sky Music (3 f Stravinsky - Dawn Rhapsody) - Matt Cameron; worked forward to race outside the leader but never rounded off the trial after travelling too fiercely.
Heat 30 Maiden 1550 metres (1 ¼ lengths, 8 lengths 1:37.56)
3 g Strada - Show em' Girl - Michael McNab; co-lead on the inner and displayed a good action running home nicely to finish second.
