Te Akau trialled horses again at Cambridge on Monday 6 September.
Weather: fine, track: poly-track, rail: true.
Heat 4 Open 950 metres (head, long head 54.4)
Seajetz (4 g Iffraaj - Bellazeel) - Danielle Johnson; settled mid inner, angled clear in the straight, and he worked home solidly over a sprint trip for fourth.
Owned by Bill and Sandra Duell, he was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $100,000 at the 2019 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the draft of Trelawney Stud, he was twice a winner to 1600 metres during his first campaign.

Heat 5 Open 950 metres (¾ lengths, 1 ½ lengths 54.1)
Vamos Bebe (5 m I Am Invincible - Hurtle Myrtle) - Danielle Johnson; began well from barrier two to lead and showed her class when stretching clear for a smart win.
She has registered two wins and three seconds from six starts. Richly bred, by Champion Australian Sire from Group 1 winner Hurtle Myrtle (Dane Shadow), she is owned by Brent & Cherry Taylor (Trelawney Stud).
Aromatic (5 m Sacred Falls - Vickezzchardonnay) - Niranjan Parmar; was back and three wide off the outside gate and she worked home well over a sprint trip for fourth.
She has registered three wins and four seconds from eight starts. Owned by Te Akau Sacred Wine Syndicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), she was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $160,000 at the 2018 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the draft of Milan Park.

Heat 7 Maiden 3YO 950 metres (long neck, 1 ¼ lengths 55.0)
Trieste (3 f Tivaci - Domani Oro) - Joe Kamaruddin; was caught wide in midfield, set forth at the 600m and she sustained her run for third.
From the first crop by Group 1 winner Tivaci (High Chaparral), her dam, Domani Oro, is by the highest priced yearling ($3.6m) to ever sell at Karaka, Don Eduardo (Zabeel).
Heat 9 Maiden 4YO & Up 950 metres (head, 1 ½ lengths 54.9)
Wychwood (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Patrimonium) - Danielle Johnson; positioned handily on the inner, pushed out in the straight and he worked home okay among the minors before rolling on solidly past the post.
In training for owner/breeder Patricia Buckingham (Emblem Thoroughbreds), she is by the sire of Te Akau Shark, Rip Van Winkle (Galileo), from three-time winner to 1600 metres Patrimonium (Green Desert).
Heat 12 Maiden 4YO & Up 950 metres (nose, short head 55.1)
4 g Civics - Dixie Belle - Niranjan Parmar; got back last on a competitive pace, six lengths 600m, and although remaining back he was doing his best work through the line.
In training for owner/breeder James Mellow, by versatile sire Civics (Danehill), from a Stark South (Dixieland Band) mare, he carries a nicely balanced cross of Northern Dancer and His Majesty through his sire lines.
Heat 13 Maiden 4YO & Up 950 metres (½ head, length 55.7)
Madame Moet (4 m Iffraaj - Champagne Katie) - Troy Harris; was slowest away, improved three wide 600m, and she was held together in the straight when tending to lay-out.
Owned by Fortuna Madame Moet Syndicate (Mgr: John Galvin), she was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $70,000, from the draft of Wentwood Grange, at the 2019 Karaka Book 1 Sale.
Heat 15 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (long neck, length 46.7)
Amalfi Prince (3 g Sebring - Campania) - Niranjan Parmar; began well from barrier one, settled midfield inner, and he ran home solidly to finish close up among the minors.
Owned by Te Akau Spirit Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), he was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $90,000, from Ohukia Lodge, at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale. He is by Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner Sebring (More Than Ready), from a mare that won six races (1100m - 1900m) in Australia.

Sternland (3 f Astern - Landslide) - Joe Kamaruddin; settled fourth and without much room he ran home solidly to finish close up among the minors.
In training for owner/breeder James Chapman (Jamieson Park), who has winner of two from five Wishing Well (Charm Spirit) in the stable, she is from the first crop of Group 1 winner Astern (Medaglia d'Oro). Her dam, Landslide, is by the world renowned sire of sires and broodmare sire More Than Ready (Southern Halo).
Heat 16 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (1 ½ length, ½ head 46.3)
Zeitaku (3 c Savabeel - Miss Opulence) - Troy Harris; was easy off the outside gate, fifth of six, and he sprinted home to win impressively.
Purchased by David Ellis CNZM last November at the Karaka Ready to Run Sale, from the draft of Monovale Farm, he is by six-time Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel). From the family of Champion Middle Distance Horse Sir Slick (Volksraad), winner of 22 races including four Group 1, and dual Group 1 winning Champion Three-Year-Old, now stallion, Puccini (Encosta de Lago), who won the NZ Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) and Thorndon Mile (Gr. 1, 1600m).

Got It In One (3 g Savabeel - Got It) - Niranjan Parmar; secured a handy position on the outer and he quickened well to grab third.
Owned by Te Akau Got the Goods Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), he was purchased by David Ellis CNZM at the Karaka 2020 Book 1 Sale, from the draft of Waikato Stud. By Cox Plate (Gr. 1, 2040m) winner Savabeel (Zabeel), from Pins (Snippets) mare, and family of four-time Group 1 winner Sacred Falls (O'Reilly). He is bred on the same cross as Horse of the Year contender Probabeel (Savabeel). From the same family, Te Akau also bought and trained Splurge (Savabeel), who numbered Group 2 and Group 3 victories among eight wins, which included three in succession.
3 g Burgundy - Corsage - Joe Kamaruddin; began awkwardly, settled last of six, ridden quietly, and powered home to photo-finish for third.
Bred and owned by Sam Boyd, David Ellis CNZM, John Elstob, Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM, Gilbert Southworth and Mark Walker, he is by five-time stakes winning stallion Burgundy (Redoute's Choice), a three-quarter brother to Darci Brahma (Danehill), both purchased as yearlings by Ellis. He is a half-brother to Group 2 winner and multiple Group placed stable-mate Aotea Lad (Savabeel).
Heat 17 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (½ head, ½ head 47.4)
3 f Burgundy - Arpeggio - Danielle Johnson; was unhurried before improving to fourth at the 600m and she ran home strongly to win.
Having her first trial for owner/breeder Sir Peter Vela (Pencarrow Stud), by five-time stakes winning stallion Burgundy (Redoute's Choice), purchased as a yearling by David Ellis CNZM, from a talented Tavistock (Montjeu) filly that impressed winning four times over 1200 metres.
Poppy Lane (3 f Sacred Falls - Octapussy) - Troy Harris; eased to last from the outside draw, six lengths 600m, and holding her spot she stretched out nicely over the concluding stages.
Having her first trial owner/breeder Sir Patrick & Justine, Lady Hogan, and Peter & Sherin Walker, by quadruple Group 1 winner Sacred Falls (O'Reilly), from an Octagonal (Zabeel) filly that impressed winning six times to 2000 metres and Group 1 placed.
Heat 18 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (head, short head 46.1)
3 g Shooting to Win - Moment of Choice - Danielle Johnson; recovered inner after missing the start and did a good job without much room to finish close fourth.
Owned by Edmund Wong, he was purchased as a weanling by David Ellis for $30,000 at the 2019 Karaka May Sale, from the draft of Monovale Farm. By a young Darley stallion, Shooting to Win (Northern Meteor), his dam-sire, Choisir (Danehill Dancer), a history making racehorse when winning Group 1 sprints in both hemispheres, is also the sire of Leading Second Season stallion Proisir.
She's Outrageous (3 f Reliable Man - She's Insatiable) - Joe Kamaruddin; got back fifth of six, distant turn, and she was okay despite remaining back over a sprint.
Having her first trial for owner/breeder Gerard Peterson (Gee Gee Equine), by good versatile sire Reliable Man (Dalakhani), from a stakes winning filly by Ustinov (Seeking the Gold) that won six times to 2500 metres and included Group 2 & 3 thirds.
Heat 19 Maiden 4YO & Up 800 metres (½ length, 1 ½ lengths 46.5)
Badgeringdawitness (4 g Reliable Man - Ebony and Ivory) - Niranjan Parmar; settled fifth of five and worked home strongly without being pressured for second.
A staying type, registering a fourth and fifth from two starts to 1300 metres, in training for owner/breeders Rod Duke and Gerard Peterson (Gee Gee Equine), his dam, Ebony and Ivory (Zabeel), impressed winning over a mile and now left five individual winners of 12 races.
Ilikitt (4 m Alamosa - Miss Kitt Ann) - Joe Kamaruddin; began well from the outside draw, going forward three wide on speed and she sustained her run for third.
Owned by Kevin and Patrick Landrigan (Anzac Breeding Partnership), she is by quadruple Group 1 winner Alamosa (O'Reilly). From a tremendous family, going back to outstanding racehorse and sire Grosvenor (Sir Tristram) and top-class multiple group winning race mare La Sizeranne (Stravinsky), out of grand-dam Tricia Ann (Zabeel).
Heat 20 Maiden 4YO & Up 800 metres (long head, ¾ lengths 46.2)
D'Oro Mexicano (4 m Vancouver - Mexican Rose) - Niranjan Parmar; received a perfect run in the trail and she quickened nicely once sighting daylight over the concluding stages to win well.
Owned by David and Matt Peacocke, Oliver Saxton, and Te Akau Canadian Rose Syndicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), she is by Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winning colt Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro). Her dam, Mexican Rose (Volksraad), was a Champion 2YO & 3YO in Singapore, having impressed winning two of her three starts prior in New Zealand. She was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $150,000, from the draft of Phoenix Park, at the 2019 Karaka Book 1 Sale.

Image of You (4 m Pins - Exactly Like You) - Joe Kamaruddin; led comfortably from barrier one and remained held together while quickening to finish second.
Owned by the Te Akau Mirror Image Syndicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), she was bought by David Ellis CNZM from the draft of Waikato Stud at the NZB 2019 Karaka Book 1 Sale. By a Champion sire, Pins (Snippets), she is out of young mare by Champion Sire and emerging broodmare sire Savabeel (Zabeel).
4 m Atlante - Omnia- Troy Harris; sat comfortably in second and she was held together while sustaining a strong gallop for third.
In training for breeder/owner Paul Ryan, she is by ill-fated stallion Atlante (Fastnet Rock), the sire of Te Akau trained stakes winners Star of Bombay and Mai Tai. Her winning dam, Omnia (Grosvenor), has left two winners of four races.
