Te Akau Cambridge Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses on Monday 30 November at Cambridge. The footing was rated Dead5, rail true.

Heat 1 2YO 630 metres (neck, 2 lengths 36.8)

2 g Darci Brahma - Obsession - Jasmine Fawcett (seen below as a yearling); got back off the outside gate and was last approaching the home turn. While hard to make ground over the short trip, he let down nicely in the straight for fifth.

Heat 2 2YO 630 metres (¾ lengths, head 37.7)

Hyacinth (2 f High Chaparral - Absinthe) - Ed Zac-Syed (also seen below as a yearling); was a touch slow off a wide gate before getting down to the rail and tracking up nicely behind runners, and she ran home strongly for a close fourth.

Heat 14 Maiden 935 metres (neck, 1 length 55.3)

Beacon of Hope (3 g Fastnet Rock - Randaroo) - Matt Cameron; jumped away well to sit second and went on to win quite nicely.

Heat 22 Maiden 1200 metres (5 ½ lengths, 1 ¾ lengths 1:13.1)

3 f Showcasing - Louders - Matt Cameron (in trackwork just last week below); coursed a touch wide and ran home gamely for fifth.
