Te Akau Racing has confirmed today that Opie Bosson and Glen Boss will pilot the stable's two-pronged Group 1 New Zealand Derby attack on Saturday 2 March at Ellerslie.
Te Akau stable rider Opie Bosson needs no introduction, recognised as one of the most gifted riders in commission.
Internationally successful Australian jockey Glen Boss, currently riding in Singapore, is best known for riding Makybe Diva to victory in three consecutive Melbourne Cups - 2003, 2004, and 2005. He has also been successful in three Cox Plates, Makybe Diva in 2005, So You Think in 2009, and Ocean Park in 2012.
Te Akau's Group 1 Derby runners are Fastnet Rock gelding In A Twinkling who was very impressive when running second in last Saturday's Group 2 Avondale Guineas from the outside gate. Talented Savabeel gelding Prise De Fer will also take his place in the iconic event, with rider engagements to be confirmed in due course.
