Te Akau Counties' Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the nine race programme on Saturday 10 April at Pukekohe.

As on Saturday 9 April the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 3 metres.

12.55 p.m. R2 2 Zambezi Warrior (3 g Pentire - Zambezi) - Matt Cameron; was without favours in the $20,000 Rating 65 1600 metres on firm ground at Te Rapa, and had no luck prior in the $20,000 Rating 65 2100 metres on 20 February at Ellerslie. The 3YO 2100 metres, on this course, appears ideal and with Verdi (Zabeel) he looks a leading chance.

1.25 p.m. R3 4 Esprit De Corps (3 g Bel Esprit - Vercors) - Cameron Lammas; has two trials under his belt in preparation to resume in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. Most recently, with this rider aboard, he made good ground for fourth over 935 metres at Cambridge. From a wide draw, in a solid field, he will look to secure cover and run home positively.

2.30 p.m. R5 2 Flirty Gertey (5 m Thorn Park - Granma Gertey) - Shaun McKay (a1); has tightened up for a smart trial win at Matamata, and ready to resume from barrier two in the Rating 75 1200 metres. Near the top of the ratings, she claims a kilo to 58kgs. Lightly raced, with good ability, she acts fresh and although striking some talented rivals appears a top four chance.

3.42 p.m. R7 11 Highly Likely (5 g High Chaparral - Starrinka) - Shaun McKay (a1); trialled quite well over 1200 metres at Cambridge, and resumes off 120 days in the Rating 75 1600 metres. Striking a few opponents in similar fresh up mode, and quite a smart field overall, he has the ability to warm into it from off the pace.
