Te Akau Ellerslie Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Wednesday 7 May at Ellerslie.

Ellerslie:

Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

11:20 a.m. R1 14 Paravane (3 f Merchant Navy – In The Vanguard) – Vinnie Colgan; she began well from barrier one to contest the pace on the inner, was on terms in the straight, and drew out late on the bridle to win a trial here on 3 April. Resuming in the $25,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres, she is the half-sister to Group One winning former stable-mate and Champion 2YO of the Year Sword Of State (Sntizel), who is now standing at Cambridge Stud. With two wins and two seconds at the trials, she's from a fast family, and rates a top three chance from barrier six. Fixed odds: $3.50 & $1.65.

4:04 p.m. R9 2 Pokuru Gold (4 g Darci Brahma – Pokuru Nugget) – Craig Grylls; he travelled wide near the pace when resuming with a close third in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 10 April at Waverley, having finished strongly down the outside to win a trial here prior on 3 April. One of two stablemates contesting the $25,000 Rating 75 1100 metres, he has posted three wins from five starts, and looks a top three prospect from his handy draw (4) with the country's leading rider aboard. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.15.

4:04 p.m. R9 7 Bella Voce (4 m Fastnet Rock – Keep On Singing) – Warren Kennedy; she closed the margin from last when resuming in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 13 April at Te Rapa, and also contests the $25,000 Rating 75 1100 metres. She ended her previous campaign with consecutive victories over 1200 metres, and is more than capable of proving competitive from barrier three. Fixed odds: $13.00 & $3.90.
