Te Akau Ellerslie Preview
27 December, 2014
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the nine-race programme on Sunday Dec. 28 at Ellerslie.
As on Saturday Dec. 27 the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail out 2 metres from the 1000m to the 400m and true for the remainder.
2.55 p.m. R5 12 Madame Jamai (3 f Minstrel Court - Palais Jamai) - Matt Cameron; scored a valuable win when leading throughout over 1200 metres during cup week at Riccarton, and took improvement from a recent trial in preparation to resume off 46-days in the Rating 65 1200 metres. She remains in side winkers, applied for her last start win, and while the strength of form is evident amongst her rivals she too brings a nice form line to the race.
4.07 p.m. R7 9 Imperium (3 g Encosta De Lago - Ethereal) - Matt Cameron; made up many lengths here over a mile when finishing sixth on Melbourne Cup Day, and freshened since, with a trial under his belt, he resumes off 54-days in the Maiden 3YO 1600 metres. With blinkers on, from barrier three, it is expected he could find a nice spot and prove very competitive in a field no stronger than he met last time.
